Uncle Emmitt's Story Time

Ordered breakfast. Over medium eggs, hash browns, Sausage. Worst breakfast I have ever had. Eggs were fried hard and hash browns were swimming in grease. Don't bother to stop this place

Unfortunately i dont think they will last long :( eggs were so overcooked went from over easy. To cooked more than over hard. McDonald's style hash browns. If i wanted fast food i would have went to McDonald's. Coffee was maxwell house. Not good. And getting a refill was almost impossible. And no real coffee cream. So overall nothing was good except the cooks attitude was very nice and friendly.

The best experience I've EVER had at a diner. Delicious food, cool atmosphere and AMAZING waitstaff. I work 3rd shift in the ICU and my night was terrible. I went to breakfast feeling defeated and exhausted. Adam warmly welcomed me in. He was so compassionate and kind. He made me a delicious breakfast that was hot and ready in a few minutes. He literally turned my entire day around. That dude deserves a raise!!!

Ordered the grilled cheese burger with fries and a pop. Grilled cheese burger was 2 pieces of Texas toast, with a slice of cheese, with a hamburger on top of the cheese with a slice of cheese on the burger. Not sure the cook knew how it was made before, previously it was 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with the cheese burger in between. Fries were a little over down. My group of 3 people each reached the food at different times. Seemed only the 2 cooking food were there, trying to do everything, so service was a little slow, but not horrible. They were doing all they could.

This is a hidden ? in Flint Michigan and for more reasons than just some of the VERY BEST cuisine you can find or imagine, and even the water is made from scratch lol, I challenge you to find better eating anywhere, in the State or maybe country, Krystal Jo's should be a stop on Dinner drive ins and dives.

After living in Flint over 4 yrs, I FINALLY took the opportunity to enjoy for myself, everything everyone else has been saying! Great country omelette, freshly made home style hash browns and the bread must be made in house because my toast was huge! lol. I enjoyed the small intimate atmosphere, as everyone was able to participate in the various conversations. Just don't drop the f bomb or Tony will inform you, that word is not cool there. So I told him I'll substitute Dude instead.....lol

The food and service is excellent, we really recommend trying it out! The prices are very reasonably priced. Can't beat it.

If you're only going to eat one burger when in Flint, make it the Hook Burger from Krystal Jo's. Dang. That thing is a mighty tasty treat, and it's made right in front of you on the flattop griddle. More than anything, it was the thick cut bacon that knocked my socks off. Because when it's bacon time, the cook lays out all of these gorgeous slices of smoked pork belly on the griddle, and the sight is just glorious. But you can also see the hand formed patty that is cooked with care. Seared, and then moved to a cooler part of the griddle where it is continually flipped. The bun gets toasted. The onions and peppers are fried. The cold garnish is assembled over on the side. Sauces are at the ready for when the hot items are finally placed on the bun. It's like a symphony of ingredients, and the cook is the maestro. If all of that isn't enough, the french fries are made from fresh whole potatoes. How can you tell? Well, they are run through a potato slicer right next to the griddle for all to see. While part of me wishes the fries were twice cooked, so they could be a little crispier, I truly appreciate a place that makes their own fries from scratch. Next time, I may just ask for the fries to be cooked well-done or extra crispy like I do at In-N-Out burger, where they also make fries straight from fresh potatoes. Oh yeah, and I may ask for extra jalapeno peppers on the burger, because I thought it could benefit from a little extra kick. Still, this place is the real deal, and it's a local gem... even if it may be a little rough around the edges.

Personable place, good food, good service. Suggest small parties 3 possibly 4 or smaller. I can't think of anything to take a star away. Rare to find a place to give you well done bacon when you ask for it, but they did. 1st time, definitely not our last.
