Bennethum's Northern Inn

Great food & drinks!! Our server - Sara was wonderful (thank you!) best place in Gaylord Mi area - restaurant was full so make a reservation and enjoy! I had the perch - outstanding 😋

We ordered the ahi tuna tar tar, which was good, the mushroom bisque was really good. For entree we ordered the ribeye, the wagyu ribeye and a pasta dish.. 1: the pasta had a very metallic taste, almost like you put pennies in your mouth. My wife ate one bite and that was it. 2: the $65 ribeye was very thin, had too many grill marks, and was tough, it was literally like a cheap ponderosa steak, but somehow worse. Very disappointed at $65 3: the wagyu ribeye: where do I begin. First off, it's wagyu and they smothered it in mushrooms and some overly salty sauce... it's a wagyu it should be the centerpiece, not hidden under all the other stuff. But once I removed the other stuff I could see why they smothered it, if it was wagyu, it was a very low grade (to be expected at $110) but also for $110 I was extremely disappointed, I was unable to eat the steak, I brought it home and ultimately threw it away. STOP PUTTING GRILL MARKS ON STEAKS!! It's just burnt steak on those spots and leaves a bitter taste. That's a ponderosa tactic. It's not fancy, it's gross. You develop a good crust through searing/ reverse searing. Our waitress was very nice, she comped the pasta meal. However we never received a refill on our drinks, so we were sitting there thirsty. Overall we all left hungry, disappointed and with $250 less, well even more once we had to stop by McDonald's just to grab something because we were all still hungry and thirsty. At those prices, I expect more than a pathetic looking/tasting, tough ribeye, I didn't have high hopes for the wagyu, but was very disappointed that it was smothered in stuff (it didn't say the toppings came on the steak, I thought they were on the side). It had to of been coke from a can, as it was basically flat when we got it, fountain coke doesn't flatten when you poor it over ice. We won't be returning, the prices they charge vs. What you get are not good. I didn't want to pay for any of the entrees, but I don't like causing a scene.

Sam was an amazing waitress and this is truly our favorite restaurant and an experience that is continually consistent. We feel like a part of the family whenever we eat at Bennethums.

Ordered 6 oz. steak with mushrooms. Mushrooms were on top of the steak, they were cold. The butter on top of steak did not melt.

Wonderful dinner, shrimp cocktail, salads and whitefish were all delicious and prepared perfectly. Our server Sara was great also.

Always a great place for dinner. Outstanding food with weekly wine,cocktail,appetizer,entrees menu. Along with a great happy hour and main dishes. Fantastic service.

Very large, but separate room style restaurant that made you feel just like home. Moderate size menu but hit all the favorites. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, yet the noise level was moderate. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Travelled 40 minutes to get there but will probably return as the food was great.

Try to get there 5-10 times a year. Live south of Kalamazoo in Three Rivers. Have relatives that live in Galord and near Galord and always ask them where they want to go out to eat. Answer is always the same Bennethum's. Great servce and food. Thanks, Harry P.

Large place that feels intimate. Surprised by how many people were there when we left. Would not have known by noise or service issues. Food spectacular.

We love Bennethums, last night was a let down with the food we ordered. We had the morel chicken which had a small piece of chicken that was burnt, had much higher expectations for $42. The Mongolian dish my wife ordered was very salty and lacked flavor. We will continue to come back, but this was the poorest quality of food we have ever experienced for $179 bill.

We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday in style! Food was amazing, service was great and atmosphere was perfect!! Always a 10/10 when coming to Bennethums Northern Inn!!
