They served a chimichanga as a luke warm flour tortilla wrapped around stew beef. It wasn't rolled, deep fried, or crisp as a chimichanga should be, or that their menu said it should be. It was lousy. I told the server, who said that someone said the same thing a couple of days earlier. Then, a person came to the table, supposedly a manager? to whom I explained the issue with the food. He said how sorry he was and maybe next time they'll get it better. I told him that there wouldn't be a next time. It was definitely not a great meal, especially for the price charged.

The food was some of the best Mexican that we have ever had. The atmosphere is authentic and colorful. The cocktail drink menu is very impressive and so is their selection of tequila. Our waitress was very attentive and quick.no complaints.

Chance is the best server! He doesn’t hover, yet somehow knows what you need and is delivering it before you even ask. Very personable. My husband and I LOVE seeing him when we come in. The rest of the staff is also very welcoming.
Food is always hot, fresh and super fast (pretty sure I get my meal faster here than at some fast food restaurants). I’m the biggest fan of the burrito Vallarta; the queso and mango together are incredible, but the best part is mixing the rice into the sauce. I swear I could live off it!
Atmosphere has kept the charming ruggedness of the beloved Sugar Bowl while seamlessly incorporating the Mexican theme for flawless presentation. Plenty of options for food and drink. Very comfortable seating.

I lived in Tucson Arizona for over 30 years. I traveled into Mexico on a weekly basis. El Patron is pretty close to authentic Mexican food. I will note that their Carne Asada is not quite what it should be. I would recommend they invest in better carne asada flank steaks and charge more. It will make a big difference! I’m hoping the issue with their steak of choice is a one time issue and I happen to get the worst of the cuts of beef! The grilled onions, beepers, shrimp, etc were great. Guac, tomatoes, lettuce were very fresh. The rice was cooked well. The refried beans seemed like it spent some time in a blender on purée! No bueno! They were definitely not authentic, more like cheap. Same issue again. Don’t buy cheap and sell high. There are many choices on the menu, so there should be something for everyone. I will probably come back, but I will be very picky about my steak and beans!
