It is rare to see the entire staff acting as if they are family. But that’s exactly how it felt at Art’s Tavern. The people were the friendliest of anywhere! We didn’t stop in until after dinner. But I am told they have the best burgers in all of lower Michigan!
Lots of minor annoyances that added up to a mediocre experience. Cash only, food was middling, strange restrooms, and no splitting checks. My husband ordered a bacon bleu cheese burger that didn’t come with any bleu cheese. When he brought this up with the server, he received two packets of bleu cheese dressing.
Before tip, the check was nearly $100 for three of us: three sandwiches/burgers (no fries), an order of onion rings, an order of whitefish dip, and two beers. I get that this is a touristy town and prices are going to be higher, but this really veers into tourist trap.

Cash only bar under the guise of not paying for their business transactions. If you want to feel disrespected while having Gordan Foods burger patties , Absolutely the place.its sad that they seem to have given up on actual customer service because they’re “comfortable” *coming from a local that works all around our small NM towns and appreciates supporting local businesses . This is not the place .

All I have to say is, why did you change the Jalapeno Soup Recipe??? No longer a sweet spicy soup, but only has the taste of cream cheese. Also looks like they switched from white meat chicken to dark meat and is a noticeable difference since ownership change.

Great staff! Very friendly. We were asking about local attractions and a good place to get seafood dinner. One of the staff members went out of his way to get us a map to take with us. Food was very good, amazing pancakes.
