The room was okay but not at a $350+ per night level. No clue what restaurants were open when. Cumbersome reservation system. Burgers at Whiskers are so salty they’re barely edible. Grounds are designed sometimes au natural and sometimes manicured, sometimes both in the same 20x20’ square. If this hotel were anywhere but on Lake Michigan it would never survive with this level of service. The pond by our room was lovely. Lots of money for way below average experience.

We hosted a 50th Anniversary party at Camp Firefly, a charming rental facility at the Homestead. It was the perfect venue for a dinner buffet for 40 people. It has lots of space for mingling inside and out. There is a big back porch with a fireplace next to a beautiful pond and yard setting. The food was delicious and the service staff did an excellent job. The furnishings and linens were all included in the rental fee. We could not have asked for a better party experience!

We stayed at Fiddler’s Pond in a ground level corner unit. It had a small patio that had a calming view of a small brook. The patio was surrounded by small bushes that gave a sense of privacy. The rooms were situated so that the other rooms were not visible. The second story rooms had no patios, so I am glad we did not stay in one of those. The room itself was updated and cute. It consisted of one King bed and two armchairs with a table between them. There is a small bathroom and closet, a coffee maker, and a dorm-sized refrigerator. The resort itself if gorgeous! There are condos overlooking the water on a cliff, or on the beach, or in the hills. Unfortunately the resort is understaffed, especially in the few restaurants; and they are not always open. If you arrive later at night there may not be any place to eat, even in Glen Arbor. Cavanaugh’s is a grocery that has great pizza and can be ordered and picked up, and they sometimes have a buffet that serves food by the pound. But no sit-down service. Cafe Manitou (on the beach) had slow service due to being understaffed, and the food was not very good. Whiskers was the out-door bar that was also understaffed, with usually one to two bartenders who also took the food orders (no waitstaff), and the wait could be long at times. Nonna’s was not open. Most of the waitstaff are interns from Jamaica. The garbage receptacles by Whiskers sometimes were overflowing, and someone put their leftover food around the corner on the ground, which was still there a day later. Overall, this is a breathtaking place that is understaffed and overpriced. A vacation rental is probably a good idea if you do not want to use the pools or weight room.

We Loved The Homestead. It is a Wonderful Place to Stay. The Staff and area are beautiful. And the Bar by the Beach is a great place to hang out. We did not go to Nonna’s or that area but people there looked like they were totally enjoying that area. And there is the Sound of Laughter at night coming from many of the condo screened porches. The Reason I gave it a 4 is that while beautiful and very well situated it is on the higher priced side. I just think people should be aware that does carry a bit of a price tag.

We stayed in Sundance 7 on July 23-24. This is a 3 bedroom, two story condo right on Lake Michigan. It is well furnished and has a nice balcony. View is gorgeous. However, we paid a LOT of money for this rental. When we checked in we were told that the refrigerator was not working and was being replaced during the next week, but that two mini frig units had been put in. This is not really OK. We were 6 people including two children. That was not enough room and no freezer. In the morning we discovered the coffee maker had the wrong pot with it which rendered it basically non functional. My daughter went and objected to the refrigerator situation and we were given a small credit. THEN on the second of the only two mornings we were there, at 8:30 in the morning, 4 men arrived stating they were there to install the new refrigerator. We should have refused them entry. Checkout was at 11:00 and we were still in our pajamas. But they came barging in and started banging on things, took the front door off the hinges, in and out. I made my displeasure clear. Finally, when they had the old refrigerator pulled all apart and were talking about turning off the water to the unit (!!), someone obviously told them to get out. They put the door back on and left without a word with the job half done. When I checked out I reviewed this whole scenario with the front desk person. She typed something into the computer and told me it had been noted in my record. No apology. No offer of any compensation for this major annoyance and inconvenience in our very expensive rental. So, bottom line, the property is simply gorgeous. We enjoyed the beach, the pools and the Cafe Manitou. But it is not a five star resort if there are major missteps such as this, and not so much of a word of apology or explanation either at checkout or thereafter.

Great family resort, close to some of the most beautiful spots in Michigan. 10 mins away from beautiful Glen Arbor, Crystal River, the sleeping bear sand dunes, pyramid point, fish-town Leland, and Mi wineries. The Resort property is just gorgeous within the woods and on Lake Michigan, and stunning views. My family visited in late July and the weather was just perfect to enjoy the two beautiful pools and beach. Kids want to return next year!

Great service, friendly, quaint, charming, a very pleasant surprise in todays world. Room was comfortable, clean. Babbling brook outside our door. Fiddler’s pond has tall trees, green and lush. Great place. Wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 nights we had. Relaxing, calming. Comfortable. Beach is beautiful but quiet. Lake Michigan is beautiful ❤️ this area is family friendly. We didn’t bring kids, and don’t usually like to be around them, but, everyone was well behaved. We had no trouble.

I planned a dinner for my daughters birthday. We were seated outside exactly as I requested. I also asked them for a special dessert of carrot cake. Cafe Manitou knocked it out. They did a fantastic job and Marsha our waitress was awesome. Our meals were delicious. Highly recommend!

This is far from a resort. Nothing was open. The one bar had a line to get a drink. We ordered food and left after waiting an hour. Over promoted an under staffed. We arrived an were given a room that was still dirty. Called the desk and they said we will call you back. An hour later we got a new, clean room. This place needs a bunch of TLC. Was doing some work in the chair and felt something on my shoulder..... not good. Not a $400.00 a night place or the 20.00 resort fee......

Rented a condominium for a week to getaway and relax. This was a beautiful location with mountains surrounding us. Quiet be on believe peaceful woods setting walked away more relaxed than ever. Believe it or not about 20 miles for so many quaint tows so we hit a different town every day. Restaurants are a bit to pricey in the area for the quality of food you receive. We cooked at the the condo for about half our meals but we’ll worth the stay gas is a little far and few between so be aware…over a our stay was a 10 will be back again for sure

We enjoyed our stay at The Homestead and found the area extremely scenic with beautiful views of lake Michigan and the Sleeping Bears Dunes National Park area. There were shopping and dining options and excellent golf opportunities.
