We spent a wonderful night at the Rye. The room was cozy and the bed unbelieveably comfortable. Cant wait to get back there
This review is solely for their bread. Organic, freshly milled sourdough with a big open crumb, tender interior and perfect crust that’s crunchy and full of flavor. It’s probably the best bread in the US.
Excellent coffee
Always great. There are few better places to have the best cuisine Northern Michigan has to offer.
Great drinks
I didn’t stay at the hotel, just visited the cafe and it was great! Love the atmosphere, coffee, and the baked goods!
Breakfast was out of this world! Great location and service
The biscuit and gravy was off the chain.
Thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Friendly service, room was beautiful Would highly recommend!!
We had supper at The Mill last night. The atmosphere and service were wonderful, but the portions are so small and the prices so high I don’t think we will return for a meal. My entree was two very small pieces of fish in a small bowl with a radish sliced on top of it. Price- $48. We went somewhere else for dessert to fill ourselves up. 😆

I would like to know all the details of the bed linens.
I’ve only tasted chai like this in India - incredible! Been searching for that taste ever since. The banh mi was amazing on sourdough and the ambiance is beautiful. Will def be back before another sleeping bear hike!
The hotel rooms are fantastic and the connection to the cafe and restaurant is a huge bonus. This property is the absolute best if you have all three rooms as there could be noise from the upstairs. But overall rooms are 5 star and the coffee and pastries are 5 star!!
The coziest place you’ll ever visit for a coffee shop. The service is always nice, the coffee is amazing and the atmosphere can’t be beat!
The cold drinks are overpriced. I ordered one iced latte, four cookies, two iced teas, and one regular Coke for $45. The iced tea tasted like plain water with ice—definitely not worth the price. I came with my family for refreshments after our wedding photo shoot, and we were asked to pay an additional fee to take pictures inside, even though our visit was simply to enjoy some drinks after a sunny day outdoors. The way this request was made felt a bit rude and uncomfortable, especially in front of other guests. This is not the way to treat a frequent local customer.
