Place was dirty, took forever with order, no changing station in men's room. Had to change Grandson in the truck

Sadly, the restaurant in Kalkaska MI is greatly in need of updating. It must be very difficult to make it look presentable what with the chipped tile, tired decor and dirty looking bathroom floors. The food is good and the wait staff pleasant and friendly. ( Sometimes I think the salad bar could be a little more creative, however.) The Big Boy at West Branch is far nicer.

Went on Friday for the Seafood Buffet. Was very dissatisfied. The shrimp tasted like it was frozen and so did everything else. The perch was overcooked..the deep fried mushrooms undercooked. In today's day of cooking, you will get better food next door at McDonald's. Even the salad bar was a bit disappointing. I won't go back. Lots of choices in the area with a whole lot better food by cooks who actually try their food before serving it up.

I've tried eating here three times while traveling. This will be the last. Every time has sucked and I've finally given up on this big boy. This last time we ordered kids spaghetti (it was okay), Western omelette (okay), four cheese Mac and cheese (basically ragu cheese sauce on penne noodles), mozzarella cheese sticks (were cold), and a Santa Fe potato pancake (Luke warm and forgot sides). Waiter was semi busy but restaurant was not full, and they had three waiters working. You have to wait to be seated (open tables but no one comes to seat you forever), then service is slow, then forgets you need a box. Won't be back. Restaurant and bathrooms are semi clean.

Three of us went for breakfast at 10:00 am. We had a quiet and comfortable booth from which we were able to discuss a project. We stayed as long as we wanted, 1.5 hours. Our waitress was great, and the food was cooked to my preferences. Overall we had a great time.
