My boyfriend and I visited The Dirty Jazz Café this past weekend to celebrate his birthday. We’d heard great things and were excited to experience the live jazz and dinner ambiance. I booked our reservation about a month in advance — the only time available was 8:30 PM, which was fine, and I was told over the phone that there would be a $20 per guest cover charge for the entertainment.
When we arrived, we were seated right away and the band was setting up. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. It took about 15 minutes before our server came to the table. We ordered drinks, which came out promptly, but then she informed us that we needed to order all our food at once because the kitchen closes at 9 PM — just 30 minutes after our reservation time. That’s something I really wish we had been told when booking, especially since there’s a cover charge. It immediately made the evening feel rushed.
We placed our order, but from there, service was inconsistent and inattentive. Our appetizers arrived, but no one checked on us. Another server brought out our mains, and the small high-top table barely fit all the dishes. Our server never returned to see how our food was, and we had to flag down another server just to order another round of drinks because ours had been empty for quite some time. When she finally returned, I asked for salt and pepper for my pasta (which was bland and underseasoned), and she mentioned it was already last call — even though we had just been served new drinks.
Overall, the night felt extremely rushed, the service was poor, and the experience did not match the high prices — we spent around $300. The only redeeming part of the evening was the live band, who were genuinely fantastic. Unfortunately, given the lack of communication, rushed service, and disappointing food, we will not be returning.

The food was not good it was very bland the pasta was too much cheese and the noodles were big and chewy it was the worst pasta I had ever tasted. They were out of like 3 wine selections and the gnats were bad They need to redo the food the sweet potato pie was running and nasty. They staff however were very nice. They Resturant need a update starting with the menu.
Great atmosphere to listen to Jazz! The food is delicious, but slightly expensive; but the service is great!

The Dirty Dog never disappoints. We normally request a seat at the bar. Carl provides outstanding service, always ensuring that we experience a perfect night out. Thanks Carl!!!
I love Alexander's performance, I think the intimate setting at the Dirty Dog made it that much better.
Wonderful evening all the way around! Great music and the food was superb! I WILL BE BACK SOON!!! ❤️
8/9/25: First I'll say this; if you plan to come here, GET A RESERVATION! They have a couple of bar seats that anyone can use, but place seems always packed, so its a gamble to not have one. On the one hand, fortunately, I got a seat(just me) without a reservation; on the other, it was the worst seat in the house; completely facing away from the live musicians. That seat shouldn't even exist to be honest, it is just impossible to enjoy your meal/drinks, and watch at the same time as you have to rotate your seat 180 degrees to see them. Plus it is right next to where all of the waitstaff pick up drinks, and a beer tap that obstructs the bartender's view of you. Its just a terrible seat, so much so, I wish they just didn't have any seats.
The bartender guy was constantly busy; it was hard to get a hold of him and when i did, it was too late; I couldn't order any food, or an additional drink. He didn't really feel sociable either, like he hated his job or something. I was told there were two performances(even though for this day, the website said this particular performance was from 6pm-10:30p) and he couldn't order me any food, even though it was only 8pm. I just left disappointed, as I was looking forward to their menu. The drink I manage to get was good; small, but heavy on the liquor.
The live performance was definitely amazing. Zero complaints there. I dunno if I'll be back though after this middling experience though. Get a reservation for a table(and in turn, a dedicated waitstaff to attend to you) and you should have a solid experience if you like jazz music.

My fiancee and I had a wonderful experience as usual. I have been to the Dirty Dogg on multiple occasions. It's one of my favorite restaurants. She had a wonderful time! The food and the band was excellent!!!

Everything was very memorable! The music was amazing as well as the drinks. Cleanliness was unkept! I would say the food was okay but did not have a lot of seasoning or taste to it but maybe putting fancy small salt and pepper to table that's order food would be cool. Other than that, I loved my experience.
We went to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and he really enjoyed all of it, the musicians were excellent, as well as the service and food. I'm glad I chose this venue.
