I love little cafe / book spots and this place was absolutely IT. Drinks are fantastic and the food delicious. We will absolutely be back.

Food was delicious, ambience warm, large selection of books and service was superb!
Brought my niece who was in town from Florida.
It was my first time here as well, along with my sister.
Evelyn was our server at the bar and she was a joy to talk with. Joshua was very helpful and considerate. Charlie was so pleasant to talk with. Charlie even shared some nice places I could take my niece while here!
10/10 I will definitely comeback.

I had an amazing, relaxing time here. Hot coffee and reading by a fireplace during this cold snap was exactly what I needed. Friendliest servers and barista and a great selection of books. Brought my own to read but ended up buying three more. The snacks we ordered were, for the most part, great. That said...if you like traditional deviled eggs, I wouldn't recommend them. Tasted like straight vinegar - but that's my personal preference on taste and won't knock them a bit for it! To each their own.

LOVE this place. Give it a visit. It's well worth it and it's always best to support small, local businesses!

The Manager is a real piece of work yelling at my wife. $5 credit on her bill won’t cut it. Get a grip and take some customer service training

I had a truly uncomfortable and disappointing experience at FlyLeaf on Thursday. My friend and I were seated and served by Evelyn, whose attitude was immediately rude and dismissive. The customer service was some of the worst I’ve experienced, unfriendly, abrupt, and made us feel unwelcome from the start.

The situation got worse when I ordered a glass of red wine. What I was served was nowhere near a standard pour, it wasn’t even an ounce. Meanwhile, another customer at there received a clearly correct and full pour of wine at the same time. The inconsistency was obvious and embarrassing. It genuinely felt like I was being treated differently, and I left feeling profiled and uncomfortable.

While the manager did remove the wine from our bill, that does not excuse the experience. This was about the principle, the treatment, and how unwelcome I felt in that moment. I have never felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant or bar.

I will absolutely never be back. I’ve attached photos showing the wine pour for context.

Beautiful book store with an intimate setting. Loved their brunch as well and the choice of both alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks.

Nestled in the charming town of Grosse Pointe, Flyleaf emerges as a culinary oasis that transcends dining, crafting an unforgettable experience for all who enter. From the moment you step inside, this extraordinary establishment captivates with its inviting atmosphere, warm decor, and an undeniable sense of hospitality that sets the stage for an exceptional meal.

Our recent visit to Flyleaf was nothing short of phenomenal, a true testament to the restaurant's commitment to perfection in every aspect, from service to flavor. Our waiter, Jack, was an exemplary representative of the restaurant’s ethos. With a genuine smile and an approachable demeanor, he made us feel right at home, guiding us through the menu with insightful recommendations and an enthusiasm that only heightened our anticipation.

When it comes to the menu, Flyleaf excels in transforming simple ingredients into remarkable dishes. I opted for the Chicken Pesto sandwich, a delightful amalgamation of flavors that left an indelible mark on my palate. The chicken was perfectly tender, imbued with the vibrant flavors of pesto that danced harmoniously with fresh greens. Paired with crispy chips, it was a meal that tantalized and satisfied in equal measure.

My fiancée chose the Tomato Basil soup, a comforting bowl of bliss that was both rich and refreshing, embodying the essence of summer in every spoonful. The side of freshly cut fries was the ideal accompaniment, golden and crisp, accentuating the quality of the kitchen’s workmanship.

Each dish at Flyleaf reflects a dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients and presenting them with artistry, ensuring that every bite is a revelation. The balance of flavors, the freshness of produce, and the tactile pleasure of each dish create a symphony of taste that invites you to savor every morsel.

Beyond the food, the ambiance of Flyleaf is intimate yet vibrant, providing an inviting backdrop for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff's seamless service, highlighted by Jack's attentive yet unobtrusive presence, underscores the restaurant's philosophy of elevating dining from mere sustenance to a memorable culinary journey.

In conclusion, Flyleaf is more than just a restaurant; it is a unique dining destination that delivers on all fronts. From the sublime flavors and immaculate presentation of the food to the impeccable service provided by Jack and the rest of the team, every visit is sure to leave you longing for more. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make it a point to experience the extraordinary offerings at Flyleaf—your taste buds will thank you!

Fantastic food and drinks, and an incredibly unique atmosphere, eating among the books.

Absolutely loved the environment, the experience, and the company I was with. It felt like the color Amber - warm, quiet and pulsed with an intellectual vibe. I had ordered a hard cider and their tomato basil soup, one of the best Id ever had. My friend had ordered their pesto chicken sandwich. The portion was large and I loved how they had a rustic-style plating. The check came in a Shakespeare play book where we had written our names and a quote from a favorite show. Im from out of state but if I ever come back through the area, I will visit again!

Great vibe

I’ve been coming to Flyleaf for several years, and I’ve always enjoyed the space for its books and tea. Unfortunately, today’s experience made it clear I won’t be returning.

The hostess was remarkably impolite and condescending from the moment I walked in. It was obvious that not everyone is made to feel welcome here, and she went out of her way to discourage me from staying. I prefer to give my business to establishments that treat all patrons with respect, and it was clear I wasn’t welcomed here.

The whole interaction had that closed‑circle, invisible‑velvet‑rope vibe — the kind of unspoken boundary where you’re quietly signaled you don’t belong. It reminded me of the old Grosse Pointe exclusivity of the 70s and 80s.

And while the concept seems to have shifted toward a reservation‑driven restaurant — which is their choice — it no longer has the warm, welcoming bookstore aesthetic that once made it special. Literature and libations? Not anymore.

Lovely place in theory, but the experience today made it clear it’s no longer for me. I won’t be back.

Flyleaf is quaint, charming and very unique. We sat in the private reading room and it was lovely.
The artwork and fireplace adds to the ambiance.
Jack was our fantastic server who was conversational and attentive.
We had the charcuterie and beans to share which were perfect.
Really enjoyed the cocktails; espresso martini, aperol spritz, Negroni, beer and wine.

Highly recommend, and def make resys.
