Their broasted chicken dinner is delicious. Real mashed potatoes. And fairly priced. Friendly place, old style eatery. Breakfast if ordered comes exactly as you order it. Recommend them anytime.

This place was amazing!! Small town feel with delicious food to match the homemade bread was delicious!!! Our waitress was amazing as well gave us a couple good laughs. Highly recommended if your in harbor beach

This Diner is more like a Dump. Absolutely no atmosphere what so ever, the layout is horrible. The store is worse, dirty, half shelved or empty, again no atmosphere, very sad as at one time Sandman’s was a great little town store….if your going to bring it back do it right, start with the Sandman’s sign outside. Sadly the town of Harbor Beach as a whole has really gone down hill. Some businesses allowed to go residential sadly (like the B&B on corner & bookstore), any residential that goes business should stay business #1 rule. The town has no excuses!!! This town has a fantastic location on the water, w/a huge harbor, pier, great park/beach, huge historical significance with harbor, light house, Frank Murphy Museum and the historical private association by the beach, no mention of this anywhere and it’s significance to locals or tourists…..but yet it’s a failure, once really nice in late 90’s early 2000. Like Pat’s Bakery, then “Donuts” on front door, you look inside and it’s dirty and a mess with racks, I certainly wouldn’t buy anything from anyone baking inside that business, SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Old Bookstore no with a “Quarantine sign” SERIOUSLY? Are there no business CODES for this town? Beach Bum Cafe puts more into their hat making then the cheap servings (and disgusting ground meat they serve) with absolutely ridiculous prices along with the ice cream shop ( only 8 flavors, literally baby portions for the price you would expect to pay in the city of New York again another place with NO atmosphere! All the other small towns are doing well, coming back from COVID-19, but certainly not HB! City council should be fired! The only good thing was the new cabins on the waterfront, but even they lacked touch ups, again no atmosphere! Permanent trailer spots; a few looked extremely dumpy, get some rules and I force some standards! All appearances of the businesses on outside and inside are a disgrace. There should be a theme to the town; like the colors blue & white for water or sand colors ( for the first name Sand Beach) a coordinated style, look. Businesses need to be cleaned up. Businesses like Beach Bum cafe to use actual real sliced meats and a real portion to salsas sides; it was the worse meal I ever had and it literally made me sick right after eating it. The state had/has money to help towns like this why hasn’t anyone applied for it? Maybe no one cares or are simply lazy. Harbor Beach COULD have allot going for it (it lacks so many activities that could bring $$$ in), but it needs some REAL leadership first and standards!
