Harsens Island Schoolhouse Grille

Call before you drive out to Harsens. Second time we tried coming and they're closed to the public. ?

We had dinner here after a day of traveling, the ambience was great.
The rosemary chicken with mashed potatoes was amazing and tasty.
The fried perch fish was crispy, seasoning was good and perfectly fried.
Their coleslaw was crispy and their glazed carrots were crisp and delicious.

The food was not tasty for us. Very, very salty. The fish dish which I received by mistake, waitress forgot my order, was oily and very salty. Salads despite what kind you ordered are the same, except the dressing. Iceberg lettuce with the mustard dressing was not tasty. The customer service was friendly but not intuitive, we needed to ask few times for assistance. It is a nice place for a local audience. Paying $15 to get to this grill was not worth it.

If you are on the Big island, this is THE BEST place to eat.
Great food, great owners, great music! Worth the cost of the ferry ride alone!
Jim knows his wines and Christine's culinary talents and dishes are always enjoyable.
This is my 5th or 6th season. looking forward to 2018!

Bartenders are super friendly, and food is fresh and good.

Waited for 25 minutes.& No one acknowledged us. Terrible experience. So had to leave.

Perfect! We arrived later in the evening, it was moderately busy. Our waitress Natalie was charming and very attentive. She made our drinks quickly and so delicious! Natalie knew the menu/specials and offered suggestions we didn't think of, like the Blackened Salmon and the Musroom Bisque. What I liked most about the Harsen's Island School House was the customer service. My group and I really felt they were happy we came. Great restaurant....we'll be back!

OMG! The burger was awesome!!!! My wife had the perch sandwich and liked hers just as much. Great service, the Owner is so personable and our food came out in about 10 minutes. Winter or Summer, the food and service remain unchanged!!!!
