Cold Iron is a must stop when we're in the UP. It seems like it's become an essential community gathering place where you can sit and chat, read one of their many paperback books, or play one of their boardgames on a coffee table seated on a cushy comfortable couch. We love ordering a flight of their creative brews. Today we enjoyed meeting Aisha, the lovely, friendly bartender. We bought a couple crowlers to take home to friends along with a T-shirt. This brew pub is a rare find!

Really enjoyed stopping here on our UP brewery road trip. Greay space. Wonderful service. We took some crowlers home because we loved the beer. Would definitely recommend and return.

I really love the space here. The building has such a neat vibe and atmosphere to it. They have a shuffle board table to play, as well as some games to play while you hang out. They have a good selection of different types of beer. I had the Michiconsin Honey Cream. It was pretty good. I also had the Copper Peak Ale which was good. I really liked the hiking maps that on the table tops. Bartender was friendly.

Beautiful building.
I had a flight of four beers, all different styles, all excellent examples of the style.
We ordered in a pizza as they have no kitchen. It was delivered promptly and eaten on the patio.
A bit disappointing that the there were so few people there on a beautiful summer Friday night.

We stopped in right at noon on Monday. We were allowed to bring our small dog in with us and she was the first one served (doggie treats of course). The photo is of a qupte on one of the walls. We both sampled several beers including a couple of the fresh made shandys. All the beer was on the lighter tasting side. This was refreshing for the IPAs as they were happy but not overpowering. Stop in and enjoy their beer.

Cold Iron Brewing is a tasty brewery in Michigan's UP. Their taproom is a big open space with exposed wooden beams. There several places to sit and they have a really nice patio and the whole brewery is dog friendly. For fun they have games, shuffleboard, and ping pong. They had 11 beers on tap for my stop plus a brewers tonic, beermosa, and seltzers. Beers on my stop were a copper, honey cream, lager, a brown, 3 IPAs, a light pilsner, grapefruit, cranberry, and lemonade shandies. There were several good beers but nothing blew my socks off. Service and locals were friendly. I would stop again.

Stopped in Cold Iron while on a road trip.
Loved the beers, loved the place and loved the hospitality.
But added value was the story behind the name, given to a brewery in an iron mining town, taken as a quote from a Rudyard Kipling poem. Well thought!!!

Cool place but not sure if the bartender is the owner but he was extremely rude. Made comments to customers about our group five feet from us. Making fun of the fact that we didn’t finish our drinks. Even held up the glass to show the two people at the bar our drinks. Embarrassing if he was the owner. If dude was just an employee I would be doing some retraining on common courtesy. Mind you this dude was probably 50. Again, embarrassing.

Smells like Val Halla. Well, like a brewery, and that's basically the same thing. Beautiful bar and lovely beers. The Copper Peak Ale is like a hug from Aegir himself. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but it did bring me joy.

I always visit Cold Iron when I’m in the area and it never disappoints! Great beer and service in a cool open building with free games.
