Loved the fireplace, warm and cozy then the Owner started screaming and swearing at employees in the kitchen, needless to say we got up and left, very uncomfortable. The wait staff was friendly and very apologetic for the owner.
Parking: Parking lot was a sheet of ice.
We stopped in Kalkaska on our way home and stopped at the Up North Grill for a late lunch. There were only a few customers at the bar, we sat at a table nearby. Our waitress was awesome and was very attentive to our needs. We ordered a couple appetizers. The "Mile High" nachos were any but that. They were maybe 2 chips high. For cheese they used the liquid type. Not our favorite. Our other tizer was the wonton. They were good. Will we return? Not until we try all the our restaurants in the area.
Stopped for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Plenty of seats available and service was prompt and friendly. I enjoyed a burger and my son had the lasagna. Both were great. Building is dated and actually looked closed when we pulled in, but shouldn't be a deterrent to stopping here for a bite to eat. I would eat here again.
Food was good but service was not good at all didn't get any drink refills, didn't get the ranch I asked for, and as such I did not appreciate getting forced to tip 20% as in my opinion with the poor services the waitress didn't deserve anything the restaurant was NOT busy in the slightest
Great little bar in Kalkaska! Fantastic food and service!! Seafood stuffed mushrooms! Amazing! The French dip!!! Yea!!! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
After we were sitting there for 10 minutes, the waitress brought the next table waters and took their drink order. They had arrived a few minutes AFTER us. We were already thinking about leaving, then she took our drink order. Well, part of it, anyway. She took 2 of the 3 people's drink order, then walked off.We left.Turns out to be a good thing. We discovered Trout Town Tavern and Eatery. Better service. Better menu. The food was good, too. Skip Up North. Go to Trout Town.
Inside was so cute! Very limited menu but the food was good even though it was kinda high. Servers were nice.
Our club and roast beef sandwiches were both absolutely scrumptious and arrived very quickly. Our server was friendly and attentive. Great experience and we are looking forward to returning!
We had a nice waiter S***. After bringing our food he didn't check on us once. It wasn't busy either. But the 2 other tables he had that had 4 each he checked on them multiple times. The food was a little on the expensive side for a gyro and club. It was okay but nothing great. This is the 2nd time here and I am sorry to say its not one of our favorite.
Absolutely love the atmosphere and hard working people here! Anything on their menu is fantastic from the burgers, burritos to the entrees! Definitely a must stop when you are in the area!

The food and wait staff was awesome..but the cook that apparently just got off shift was sitting at the bar..very loud dropping F-bombs and mother F'ers while a family with young children were trying to enjoy a Father's day meal. My husband politely went to the bar and told him to drop the f-bombs somewhere else. Our waitress kept apologizing and seemed very embarrassed.
We were here tonight after hearing great things on Klt the rock station. I was extremely disappointed. We waited 25 mins our food arrived and was cold. My spouse had nachos and it looked good but the nacho cheese sauce and meat were all cold. I ordered the chipotle wrap no onions and no tomatoes with fries. Mine was loaded with lettuce and onion( I’m a big anti onion person) the wrap was cold with very little chicken and the fries looked like they were cooked on bad oil and cold as well. Im not one to complain about food but we ate 3 bites and asked for our bill. Our waitress didn’t bat an eye and ask if everything was ok. I’m in the restaurant industry and I would have never severed fries that looked like that. My daughters pizza was ok for her cause it came out already cooled down so I guess that was a plus. But $44 for cold food is not ok. I really hope this was just a bad day for them but we will never be back.
It was very delightful. My wife and daughter and I had dinner there and was very welcomed. Everything was perfect including Brandi, our waitress. Food was great and the hospitality was even better.Definitely will go back. Thank You.The Cupps' Family
This is a favorite spot to come when we're here across state. The food is amazing and perfectly seasoned, the whole place is amazing (though sad to hear that their huge fish tank busted! That was something else!), and the people are great.
I'd report on the food and experience but we had none. 15 minutes of waiting with no greeting from the one server working during a festival. We left.
