A Plus Crab (Great Lake)

We had my daughter’s surprise birthday dinner at A plus yesterday. The staff did a wonderful job accommodating our needs including early seating for our several family members who traveled from across state. Our server was wonderful and did a great job taking orders for separate bills. Our food was quick, correct and absolutely delicious. This restaurant is a family favorite for us. It’s the best seafood in Michigan. We always look forward to our visits and will continue to come here for all of our celebrations. Thank you to our server and the staff for making my daughter’s birthday feel so special!

As seasoned seafood boil lovers, we’ve tried spots all over and were excited to give this place a go. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, and the food itself was good — fresh and well-prepared. That said, because we’re pretty serious boil connoisseurs, a couple of things stood out.

🔹 Flavour: The sauce was tasty but lacked the rich, generous coating we’re used to. We typically expect the boil to be fully immersed in sauce, and this one felt a little light.
🔹 Temperature: The seafood arrived warm rather than hot, which took away from the full experience.
🔹 Service: Decent and friendly, but fairly basic. Nothing bad, just nothing standout.
🔹 Ambiance: Good vibes overall and an enjoyable setting to dine in.

All in all, it was a good meal, just not exceptional when compared to the top-tier boils we’ve experienced. For casual diners, it’ll hit the spot — but for hardcore seafood boil enthusiasts like us, it’s a solid 3.5 out of 5.

Would return if in the area, but with expectations set accordingly.

This is a old Joe Crab Shack ....that seems to need help in every aspect.This is by far overpriced for buffet quality food . Never again ....fool me once.

Place was about to close. I placed an online order and pick up was effortless. Not sure on the girl who took care of me but she was lovely. Kind, courteous, and prompt! Ordered fried oysters basket with sweet potato fries and hush puppies. Delish!!

Loved the ambiance and drinks, but the main course was good for the portion size.

It brought back the days of Joe's Crab shack but better because they offer yummy crab boils too‼️The food was delicious and affordable and great portions ‼️🩷

A lot of food for your money, I think you know what your getting but they exexute well here...

Lynn was very rude to us. Not sure why. Kept rushing us while eating for the bill. The restaurant was empty!

I've been craving a seafood boil lately and a friend recommended we try this place. The building is really cute outside and inside! There's also a little playground outside. We walked in without reservations and we're seated right away. We got our drinks and apps fairly quickly as well. We really liked the cute fishbowl cocktail. It was evenly mixed and tasted great!
I had a few questions about how portions worked compared to weight and our server was easily able to answer without getting too technical. We did not have to wait long at all to get our food either. The seafood boils came out in a tied bag on a tray and a trash can, bibs, gloves, a shell cracker, and shell splitter were given to us for ease of eating.
As soon as we poured those bags onto our trays our mouths were watering. It looked so good and it tasted even better. We both got the A+ seasoning which is all of their seasonings mixed together and we liked it a lot. My sister got it with a medium spice level and said she didn't taste much spice as if it was a mild spice level like what I got but still tasted good. The seafood was fresh as well. I loved the snow crab legs and they were decently sized too.
It wasn't too loud inside and not too busy for a Friday night and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. Everything was decently priced and the bathrooms were fairly clean as well. Overall we liked the place a lot and would come here again.
