The tables and everything is this place may not be your cup of tea due to the fact It’s not ‘new aged’ , it’s not what you’d see now a days it’s older everything.BUT the owner is amazing . Small and old. My army recruiter took me to lunch their 4 time's. Twice in late 1969 and twice in 1970. I think the place was built in the 1950's, good food. O yes the Army beat out the Navy. Did 24 years and 6 months. My Wife had her own to go bags. She loved to travel. She ended up working for the USCG as a civilian and I would go and would travel with her. Old Restaurant good food old memories.
Our first visit to Mels was in 2010, and I would have rated their food a 10, by far the best omelette I’ve ever had. I literally think about that omelette every time I have an omelette and they never taste as good. Fast forward to our last trip in 2021 and its like a totally different taste and not a great taste. They must have a new cook who is not good at making omelettes. Seriously terrible compared to the way it used to taste. I wish i knew where the old cook makes food...
