Old school vibe with good solid cooking. I had the fried chicken dinner. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. If I lived in the area this would be a regular place for a good meal. My server was very nice and competent. Beer and wine available and is reasonably priced. Cocktails too

Food is alright; however, the person taking the order over the phone and giving the food to us in person was rude. The restaurant should make it transparent that a 15% gratuity charge is automatically added to the bill for all takeout orders. This is a shock. As someone from Michigan, it is not true that “all restaurants do this”—do better.

Average food and so-so service. The atmosphere is dated but has a comfortable feel to it.

Old Hamlins is a great restaraunt. All the waiters and waitresses are super friendly. Food was excellent and great size portions. Highly recommend.

This place was great!! we went for dinner and we also went for breakfast while we were here. They have wonderful staff, everyone was very friendly. Our food came out fast and our orders were accurate and the food was super yummy. You have to try some of their homemade toast, it was amazing. Thanks for a good experience 😊😊😊

We live in Ludington and have eaten here a number of times. For the most part, food has been great--hearty breakfasts and the best grilled cheese sandwiches (homemade bread!). However, the most recent dinner we had was pretty bland. Husband liked his meatloaf, but said that most of the flavor came from the gravy and that the meat lacked seasoning. My spaghetti and meatballs tasted a little too much like Chef Boy-Ar-Dee. To be fair, every other time we've had dinner there, it's been great, and the waitstaff is friendly and helpful. I'd still definitely recommend the restaurant because most of the dishes are good--and I've heard that the desserts are wonderful.

My wife's open face hot turkey sandwich was amazing. My Gyro was average at best.

The food here is always outstanding. The service is a little on the shabby side depending on who you get but small town, what do you expect? I love going here, absolutely the best place for breakfast around.

I love finding locally owned restaurants with yummy food, and was particularly looking forward to this after reading the reviews. Unfortunately my experience was not great. The people were super welcoming with good service, and we were seated promptly. The place is not cheery as I had hoped: spacious, but worn and quite dim. It was a chilly day, and we both wanted soup. The soup was served immediately from the buffet (soup/salad) area. I had the cabbage soup (gluten free, thank you) and my husband the chicken noodle. He had a slice of the homemade bread. Unfortunately the soup was not at all hot. After hesitating a bit (hate to complain unnecessarily), and since it was all we were having, I did ask that our soup be heated which she did promptly and graciously. The soup itself was hardy enough and well made, but with too much salt for my liking. It wasn't a great experience and I likely won't be back. If you appreciate this post, please click “Helpful.”

Our third time eating here-always delicious. Well, not this afternoon. I ordered the sm. plate of pollock and it was not fresh, had a strong, metallic taste and the meat was not white and flakey. I only ate one piece for fear of getting sick. The mashed potatoes w/ gravy was homemade and delicious. We both ordered ice water w/ lemon and were charged 10 cents each (we ate breakfast there this a.m. and were not charged the additional fee) absolutely unheard of! Our waitress had to reprint our bill because she did not give us our 10% discount (we are obviously 55+). We ate at approx. 4 p.m. so they weren't swamped w/ customers (approx. six tables tops).
