The food was overpriced, the waitress treated us like we were an inconvenience, probably will not return.

I definitely need a 6th star for this restaurantI am 51 years old and this is the best tasting meal I've ever been served in a restaurantI now know how a 5 star meal should taste. I had the Whitefish Shasta. Atmosphere was very romantic.

Walked into the restaurant at 8:05 pm. Was greeted by Rachael who promptly looked at her watch and asked if we planned on eating. Hhmmm neon sign outside states open until 9 pm. Proceeded to the bar for a drink as it was obvious we should not be eating. After one drink and at 8:20 pm she asked us if she could cash us out. Forget another drink. She then noted a car outside and stated to another waitress "I hope they are not coming in to eat." Let out a sigh of relief when it was determined it was previous dinner guests leaving, but continued to observe her playing on her phone the entire rest of our stay. Overheard her state "I'm so tired, I just want to go home." Was very obvious staff did not want to be there as they were all complaining. Noticed they are closing for the season this Sunday....maybe should just hang it up with staff such as this. Will never return, as was felt they didn't want the business and all hated their jobs!!

We ate here a few times this summer of 2023 and especially enjoyed the Whitefish, both dinner and tacos, which are caught locally by Thill's in Marquette, we understand. Friends had the Prime Rib, and loved that too. The decor was warm, cozy and interesting, and we enjoyed our dinners there. The staff works hard and does well getting to all the tables as I'm sure they are short staffed, like many places nowadays. However, I food came out in ample time and we enjoyed our meals!

We ate at Mt Shasta in mid-August, 2023. We were the only customer for a mid-afternoon lunch/dinner. We were soon joined by plenty of diners. My wife and I had the Whitefish dinners and the soup and salad bar. The whitefish was the best we've ever had! The s/s bar was excellent, too.

Wheelchair accessibility: The front door is not challenged-friendly, as my wife use a walker. I was not aware of wheelchair entrance. No one suggested using that exit. Our only concern.

We had reservations for four at 4:00 on Friday. We know this is a busy time for them,so we went early. We had a good meal and we’re enjoying a glass of wine after dinner . We were interrupted by our waitress who said I don’t mean to rush you but your table is reserved and has to be ready in 20 minutes. I looked around and there were other tables for four available. This is a pricey restaurant not a fast food place. I do not feel 1 and 1/2 hours is over extending our welcome. In my opinion this is very poor customer service for a supposedly fine food restaurant! We will not be back!

Mount Shasta Restaurant located on Highway 41 in Michigamme, Michigan is an extremely good restaurant. Everything about it is awesome. The only thing that we found is we thought it was pricey. We do recommend this restaurant.

Parking: Plenty of free parking available.

Love the history of the place Food was mediocre. My husband had chili and said it had no real seasoning. I had the prime rib which was good but I’m pretty sure the vegetables were frozen and they had no flavor. Our waitress was attentive and sweet We had made a reservation for 5:30. Our waitress seated us and the the head waitress berated her because she put us at a table that a couple who are “regulars “ normally sit at. We offered to move but was told no it was fine. The “regulars” came in and the lead waitress greeted them and led them to the table next to us. It was obvious this wasn’t a good solution. Several phone calls came in from potential diners. One being a group of 18. The lead waitress made it clear that they weren’t welcome. We then heard her tell the regulars she had let a couple of servers go home early. This is a Saturday night during tourist season. Having lived in a tourist area, the Outer Banks of NC, for 20 years we have never seen and heard a staff member act this way. I really felt sorry for our waitress having to work with such a coworker. Having to listen to the lead waitress complain the way she did totally ruined our dinner

If I could separate the food from the atmosphere, I would definitely give the surroundings 5 stars. The restaurant was very nostalgic, open, and very clean. Definitely enjoyed our stop in that regards. Very Cool. Now to the food. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich that she said was very good. I on the other hand, I had boneless chicken wings, that tasted like fish. Obviously, they fry their chicken and fish in the same grease, or it just needed to be changed. Therefore, I give the food 3 stars. Our waitress, while not an anyway rude, just didn't seem very friendly. or just not happy to be there. I try not to let things like that ruin my day, but I may have given the restaurant 4 stars. I would probably stop again when out that way..

We needed a bathroom on a long trek through the UP, and we stumbled upon this restaurant. It was close to lunchtime so we decided to make mealtime out of the emergency bathroom break. At first, I did feel like we were kind of unwanted. All of our questions were answered though, minus the overly-friendly-wait-staff smiles, but we don’t actually like people, so the service without a smile didn’t bother us at all.We asked what she recommended to eat and took her suggestions. Our group all tried different burgers and one went for the fish. Everyone was delighted. The food was delicious, and the prices were decent. Our group of five walked out with a bill under a hundred dollars, and the server got us all of the extras we asked for. By the end of our meal, she may have even cracked a smile—or she may have been relieved we were finally leaving. Meh…either way a smile is a smile : )
