First and the important part is the price they show on the menu is cash price elven tho they show a meal being 11.99 with a sticker where you pay stating 4% discount if you pay cash. Their nickel and dining customer without the customer knowing it. Some waitress dont know what their doing and others are outstanding. I refuse to go back when a discount is the normal menu price and you get charge a different price then the menu shows. Poor owner skills... scamming customers.

I knew to patronize this by the large numbers of seniors I could see from the street as I pasted by, once inside I was greeted by the down to earth people who work there..being from the downriver community my wife and I enjoy the Monroe area, now more than ever since our son resides there.. God bless all who work at the American Diner we will always come back... Double T Trenton, Michigan

We stopped in here for dinner tonight It’s been a few years since we’ve been here But figured we’d try it again I just don’t understand why this place wasn’t packed at dinner time They have plenty of seating The waitress was awesome and very attentive to us OMG The food was amazing See pictures below I can’t say enough good things about this place But there were a couple drawbacks for me The menu has way way to many items on it And not enough meal items The chicken Alfredo could have been much better There was no Alfredo flavoring to it And it was swimming in sauce I mean actually swimming since there was so much of it The garlic bread was the smallest I’ve ever seen in my life The helping were huge Which is always a good thing So much so that for the very first time ever My husband walked out with a doggy bag If you haven’t tried them recently Give them a try again

I ordered shrimp Alfredo, usually good food but I brought to the attention of the waiter that it was soupy and the tails were still on the shrimp, he told me that it's how they make it, I said it was terrible and he said sorry it was a dinner special for 18.99 wasn't even worth a dollar, it used to have good food but I left a pic of my food and they lost a customer

We waited over an hour for our food. While we sat and waited our drinks sat empty for over 15 minutes before being acknowledged again. After that we got up to pay and leave without the food. As we were leaving our food was just coming up. We had terrible service and will not be coming back nor recommend this diner to anyone.

I’ve been in the restaurant industry for over a decade, so I tend to pay attention to the small details. Since switching to 24/7 hours, this diner has quickly become one of my favorite late-night stops. Always support local when you can! The food is consistently excellent—fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly well-executed for a place that’s always open. The staff on the floor (Elaine & Juli) are friendly, attentive, and clearly work hard to make guests feel welcome. The only thing that stands out in a less positive way is the late-night management vibe. On a few visits, the owner or overnight manager has come across with a bit of an off, standoffish energy. Not outright rude, but noticeably less warm than the rest of the team, which affects the atmosphere when things are otherwise great. That said, the overall experience is still strong, and the quality of the food and service definitely outweighs the downsides. I’m hoping the late-night leadership energy improves, because this place has the potential to become a true neighborhood staple.
