Totally impressed with quality and atmosphere. The stuffed hash browns are amazing and they make em fresh. Perfect thing to order before your dispensary run (they take like 20 minutes, but worth it) cuz like now imagine ..... you come out of the dispensary with all your goodies and wallah (did i spell that right?) .... there's a stuffed hasbrown waiting .... we got biscuits and gravy too ..... it was all a taste explosion in my mouth. The coffee was legit too ..... but super chill place and totally gave me a vibe that Id rather support this local small business than some BS Starbucks or dunkin crap. Thanks for existing next to a place I go to forget things..... but I want you to know I wont forget you and what you did for my taste buds

Visited this coffee shop for the first time with my husband. He got the Chai Tea latte and I got the Samoa latte. From very picky coffee drinkers, both were absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is very relaxing, it makes you want to spend time there reading a good book. Will definitely be returning to try more delicious drinks!

This was our first time here & we were very happy with our experience! The Samoa cookie latte was amazing. Our barista went out of his way to make homemade whipped cream when they ran out for our lattes! The food was great too, we really enjoyed the stuffed hashbrowns. Very pleasant experience overall

Open early for a breakfast and coffee before work. Try their glorious morning muffin! The staff said it was carrot cake x10 and it was 100% true it’s so good. Come in and grab something. Tried to take a pic of my muffin but it was so good I ate a lot of it before I could take one.

I stopped by Fresh Start on my way home from a family trip a few weeks ago and I can't say enough good things. Their cold brew is EXCELLENT! The stuffed hashbrown I ordered was so crispy and delicious! While I was waiting for it (cooked fresh to order), I had a lovely conversation with one of the owners who told me all about their history and current business model. They are an employer who offers jobs to people in recovery and exiting the prison system, which made me all the more happy to give them my business.
If you're ever passing through Monroe, Fresh Start should be your stop for breakfast or lunch!

My only suggestion is to post a clear sign on the post where you have the door dash shelves that tells people to go around the corner to order. From the door, you can't see the coffee bar (in the back to the right). I was wondering if I was in the right place.
BUT super-cute! Reasonable process on our drinks.

Wonderful place with a great staff and great atmosphere.

I had the pleasure of trying this coffee house while I was visiting Monroe. It was exactly as advertised and the food was unexpectedly delicious. I had a smoothie and my colleague had a chai as well as trying some of the food. Service was great and James was very helpful. What was super unfortunate was that I was there the same time as Sarah Jessen (previous reviewer) I know this for multiple reasons. 1) it was only us outside of staff and volunteers until she came in; 2) she made a HUGE scene which ended in her screaming “I’M GOING TO WRITE A GOOGLE REVIEW ABOUT THIS! ILL TELL THEM THE COFFEE WAS GOOD BUT THAT YOU SUPPORT THAT!”
So what happened? Sarah got her coffee and was chatting with the staff about living in NY for 10 years. Not 2 minutes pass and she is screaming to the entire room about her disbelief they had “that on the wall”. Two older staff or volunteers attempted to interject because at this point she was yelling at the staff member. She did not let them speak and kept yelling over them before leaving. The staff handled this with such grace and even apologized to us.
My problem is that this place is a mission based nonprofit dedicated to helping people in your community. This would have been a great learning experience to let them know the flag had been co-opted and that they should take it down. Instead, she choose to scream at a black man that he was a “white Christian nationalist” and two elderly volunteers. I can confirm that they spent 10 minutes googling after trying to figure out what she meant and I consider myself fairly educated and had no clue this flag even existed. This is not something that the average person would know. I would be surprised if they don’t remove it.

Food was delicious. Staff was helpful and kind. A wonderful cause. I’m very sad that this occurred.

Why do you have a WHITE CHRISTIAN NATIONAL symbol hanging on your wall? I know, I know, thats not what the flag ORIGIANALLY meant. But that meaning has changed since the proud boys and others took it over and flew it at the 1/6 insurrection. It just really isn't needed. I have been wanting to come here and was even thinking about attending meetings. It superceded my expectations SO I am EXTREMELY disappointed.
