Really wanted to try a mom & pop sandwich shop here in Monroe but they were closed during their normal business hours on a Wednesday and said they were only open to the public Tuesdays:( might want to change your business hours online!

Good Reuben sandwich. It's big.

Parking: While parking is close to the door and exiting the parking area is easy, it's the sub sandwiches I like. I'm also happy they are (currently) taking orders for pasties!!

The pros: Joy's is a great lunch spot. You can dine inside, it's clean and often decorated for the season. The dining area has great atmosphere. Sandwiches are good and consistent. You can create your own or go with one that they've already created, like the Italian. There's usually soup of some sort, hot and fresh. They used to have regular hot meals, but haven't seen those in awhile. Currently it's around $20ish for my husband and I to stop for sandwiches.

The cons: Finding an updated menu or hours can be a challenge. You can always call first, but who wants to do that every time? I have numerous allergies/dietary restrictions, and trying to get the ingredients for some of the soups has been a challenge. The recipes are of the "top secret" variety, which makes the ability to enjoy them quite challenging.

While we've visited off and on through the years, and have enjoyed great food and good service, today we stopped and ordered only to hear the chorus of employee coughing once we sat to wait for our order. Two of the employees had such bad coughs. One we could not see except for when she bumped over for something quick - she seemed to be in the kitchen area. The other was coughing over the soup while she was scooping into a bowl, before pulling her shirt over her face. Occasionally she tried to cough into an elbow. While I understand it's the season for a lot of coughing, there's something about a productive cough coming from two people across a kitchen with no precautions being taken. (Masks? Washing hands?) Somebody who had been waiting to place an order walked back out. We would have done the same had we saw and heard what we did before ordering.

Dietary restrictions: They do not share their ingredients.

Wheelchair accessibility: Not easily wheelchair accessible. It is a tight parking lot.

Stay open until 6pm if it says you’re open until then on google. I won’t be visiting this place.

Every time I go they are closed when their hours say that they’re open. I haven’t been able to try their food and I’ve gone 3 or 4 times now.
