My family went to Monica’s donuts on a Sunday morning. The store opens at 7, so we got here at 7. Their workers had to still haul all the supplies and the finished donuts inside the store through the front door, which is very unprofessional. Usually I love their donuts and service. But this is awful. The employees delivering the donuts and supplies looked like they just rolled out of bed.

If I could give this place a zero star I would! I went into the bakery two weeks before I needed to pick up my sons 10th birthday cake on March 21st. I talked to them and also sent them a picture on their email (I made sure that they received it before I left) they said everything was perfect and they can do it. Went to pick up my sons cake and was definitely NOTHING that I sent them, it’s like they wanted to do whatever they wanted!! The cake decorator didn’t even look at the email! And the paper had all the information! They told me that Monica the owner was going to call me, give her about two days,days went by( March 22nd) and nothing…I called them and they said they’ll call her again and still nothing… Monday they aren’t open and then Tuesday I finally had to go up there and I was able to get my money back for the cake, and that is because the girl that works there part time said she was so sorry that the owner never called me and she’s going to give me my money back and she’s going to tell her that she did!! I appreciate it and thats seriously all I wanted and would of been nice for the owner to call me instead of ignoring me… but her customer service is horrible, for an owner to just ignore a customer and not give a shit is horrible! I will never go here ever!! And I will make sure to tell my family and friends!!

Everyone there is so nice. Very clean inside. The reason I gave 3 stars is because I've always loved their apple fritters. A good ratio of cinnamon sugar and apples we're perfect. Now they make them so big that there's very few apples in them, and they're dry. Very disappointing

Working in polish-dominated Hamtramk, MI, I fell in love with paczki. Moving to Belleville MI, working in Toledo, I needed to find REAL paczki - that pseudo-paczki-junk at Kroger/Meijer is a jelly bismark.
Monica makes real paczki. I've gone there from Traverse City since retiring in 2017- on trips to two Monroe fundraisers falling close to Fat Tuesday.
The banquets fell 10 days away on either side of Fat Tuesday this year. I called the store, hoping for a pre-or-post Paczki Day special order.

I took a chance to ask if she could do a dozen poppyseed paczki. My Auntie Bessie used to make poppyseed 'shishka', a bohemian version of polish paczki, in the 1950s. I've not had one in 65+ years, after moving from Chicago . Every year, I've wondered if a paczki-maker would be so kind as to fill some with poppyseed.

Two best parts of my trips to Monroe: seeing my family and enjoying Monica’s donuts. I always return to Los Angeles with a dozen in my suitcase. They freeze well and are nearly as delicious a month later.
Worst donuts I have ever had. They tasted like nothing it was very strange. Also very dry. Grocery store donuts are a 10 compared to them. I was treated like I was bothering them.

Totally awesome fresh made donuts. Got to try 2 popular donut shops this week, schulers bakery in Springfield Oh and Monica's in Monroe MI. Monica's is the clear winner. High quality and great tasting.

Paczki day. How disappointed. I get cutting corners. Cost of everything is ridiculous. But filling only 1/8 - 1/4. Paczkis are know for the filling. Find a way to improvise but not that much. We pay more and get less. No one holds standards anymore.
