We have been driving over an hour (one-way) to Nocturnal at least once a month since the moment they opened their doors, and to us, it feels less like a drive and more like a pilgrimage. This place is sacred to us and is deeply, dearly, and irrevocably loved. ✨️
We’ve chased “the best coffee” all over the Midwest on road trips, and I can say this without hesitation: nothing else even exists in the same realm. Nocturnal stands alone. Their drinks are not just coffee, they’re magic. I'm talking mug-sized works of art, crafted with care, intention, and so much heart. 🖤
Their house-made syrups are fresh, thoughtfully made with real ingredients, often (if not always) gluten free, and you can taste the care in every sip. The seasonal menu drinks are dreamy: limited, imaginative, beautifully balanced, and always a little mysterious. Blink and you’ll miss them, but that just makes them more special.
The creativity here is unmatched. The whimsy... the goth vibes! The themed menus and events that you can't wait for. Every barista here is an absolute doll. Warm, kind, welcoming, and genuinely lovely humans who make you feel instantly at home. The owners are just as darling, and knowing this is a family-run operation makes it all the more special. You truly can feel how much love and painstaking effort has been poured into every detail.
The care dedicated to restoring this building and turning it into the enchanted space it is now is palpable. Candlelit, cozy, intentional, and alive. Nocturnal feels like home for the nocturnally inclined, for the soft goths, the elder emos, even the sparkly vampires. For anyone who ever knew that I’m not okay was a whole personality, that it was never just a phase, and found comfort in places that feel exactly like this one. Without Nocturnal, we'd be miserable at best. ☔️

Our 1st experience was during Halloween. We loved it. Stopped in during Christmas and experienced Harry Potter themed coffee and cookies. Loved it so much. We are from Ohio but had to make a trip back to bring our son to check out the Harry Potter experience. He loved it. Can't wait to see what's next.

One of my favorite and one of the best non big brand coffee shops I ever been to. The syrups are house made and the sweetness is on point! Every month they have a different theme for decorations and drinks. The sweet treats are from a local bakery so they are as fresh as they are delicious. The only down side is the line is sometimes incredibly long but that really just speaks to how amazing it is!

I have been wanting to check this place out for some time now. Yesterday it finally happened!!! I had company in town from Georgia and we decided to come for our morning coffee. I can not express how Awesome this place is. The decor, on point. The music? ..... YES!!! I fell in love with the orange crushed velvet couch. I had a mocha and it was delicious. I love a mocha that actually still tastes like coffee. My friend got a peanut butter cookie that was to die for. I live about 45 minutes away from Monroe. I'm thinking I will be going once a month now ..... I have so many people I want to bring so they can experience the Greatest Coffee Shop I've ever been to. Thank you for existing 🖤
