Amazing restaurant! Fair prices with a great atmosphere... I had the London Broil, absolutely loved it! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good place to eat :)

We come here often, but won’t be ordering the shrimp scampi again ☹️. If you do, be prepared for a SOUP and ask for a spoon. And maybe extra shrimp besides the 5 pieces 🤷♀️.

TLDR: It was decent. Most everything was good except there was a long wait, (not nice waiting area) undercooked shrimp (can’t eat that…), an undereducated bar staff (at the time we visited) and a very dark atmosphere. The staff was nice and the food (except for the shrimp) was tasty.
We were visiting family who brought us here on a recommendation. We started with drinks- I ordered a Nonino Sour (Amaro Nonino, Fresh Lemon and Lime juice with Our Simple Syrup). It was fairly tasty and not too strong. Definitely different. We also ordered Our Old Fash-Inn (Makers Mark Bourbon, Maple Syrup, Angostura Bitters with a twist of Lemon and Orange) which was reported to me as being “vey small for a $12 drink”- you can see my photo of the drink before anyone took a sip from it, and I’d have to agree that there wasn’t much there.
For appetizers we tried the Smoked Salmon Spread (House smoked fresh salmon spread served with fried naan bread and pita chips) which our table shared- it was about 50/50 we liked it/didn’t like it. I was of the half that liked it 🤣. We also tried the Pretzels and Queso (Warm, soft pretzel bites served with our own fresh made cheese dip). I am of the mind that you really can’t screw up pretzels and cheese- and they didn’t! It was good- everyone at the table loved it.
Dinners came with two sides and the Caesar Salad (Romaine lettuce tossed in Caesar dressing, sprinkled with grated parmesan and topped with croutons) was ordered by a couple people at the table- both reprint back that the salad was perfect.
The Spinach Salad was ordered (Fresh spinach, dried cranberries, sliced almonds, feta Cheese crumbles, topped wich a champagne vinaigrette with added grilled chicken) and was reported to be very tasty.
We had ordered the Black and Bleu Burger
(1/2 lb blackened beef topped with melted bleu cheese) and it looked and tasted exactly as described.
Someone ordered the Grilled Salmon
(Grilled salmon filet served with melted lemon butter and your choice of two sides) with a baked potato and one of the Caesar salads, and she said it was very good.
Someone else ordered the Smothered Chicken (Vegetable of the day and garlic mashed potatoes topped with two tender grilled chicken breasts which are then topped with sautéed onions, bacon, melted cheese, and drizzled with BBQ sauce) and raved about it being quite delicious. It definitely looked like an old fashioned home cooked meal, and he was quite pleased with it.
I ordered the Tomato Vodka Pasta
Pasta topped with our tomato vodka sauce, shaved parmesan and fresh basil and requested to add shrimp, which they happily agreed to. Unfortunately, some of the shrimp were not fully cooked and were slimy in texture. I picked those out and ate the rest, which were tasty and not overcooked 🤣 which can happen a lot but not this time! The pasta was cooked well.
I finished my meal with a drinkie as dessert: Light House (Amaro, Passion Fruit Liqueur Luxardo Cherry and Champagne). I have to say, it wasn’t my favorite. We were told that one of the bar staff was new, so we figured our drinks were maybe made by them? Hope so!
The service was good, and our server in particular was very nice. The overall vibe is nice, but I feel like it’s just a bit too dark. We weren’t there that late, but it was so dark that it felt like we were at a late night pub. I used the flash for many of my photos, but they’re not as good as normal because it was so dark in there.
Vegetarian options: There are some salads
Parking: If you get there when it’s busy you may have to park in the road but there is a small parking lot right on site.

The perch sandwich I had was just fine but my husband's French dip was another story.....unfortunately the hot dog type bun was burnt and the flavor of the meat, cheese and au jus, ...not much taste at all. Unfortunately the onion rings were super greasy.

Rookie server with nobody helping or supervising him. Zero knowledge if the menu it the kitchen. Dark, neighborhood bar atmosphere, not dirty but not clean. Not welcomed when we came in. Food okay but not great and definitely somewhat overpriced. Doubtful we’ll ever go back. Not terrible just not impressive or noteworthy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great little spot. Good, reasonable prices, service was great even though they were short handed. Get there early.

We come here every year on our Michigan vacation. Unique old building, near beautiful Lake Michigan. The hostess told us it may be a bit of a wait, but we got right in after a five minute wait, and our service was great, as was the food. Lake Perch dinner and Caesar salad were delicious.

As other recent reviews stated, the perch was tasteless. Breading was “cornflaky” with no flavor. Wife had the Chicken sandwich which had a garlic aioli spread. Her meal was OK. They were out of vegetables and no subbing for the NY strip dinner which was NY strip and brussel sprouts. The hiring sign on the door should’ve been a sign as they are looking for a kitchen manager. We believe this place could be so much more if the “chef” could add some “care” to the recipes. It seemed like they were following a recipe to a “t” and not putting their own spin on it.
Atmosphere - it’s a 124yr old house converted to a restaurant.

On Vacation, took the family there, perch was tasteless, something was wrong with it. Told me at first she would take something off for me, waitress also forgot to bring my salad, bill came and asked why she didn't take something off, she told me the manager said we serve fish all the time, and it must be me. Paid the bill in full left 4 of the 5 pcs the fish on the plate and left. We will never go back. Hope this review helps the restaurant know it wasn't me, I eat fish fry all the time. Also my wife had the shrimp scampi, tasted like it was in chicken noodle soup, was not good. If it was a bad peice maybe but don't blame the customer that was wrong.

Food was cold/ frozen fish, & 30 min. Later than the rest of our party. .
All breading " corn flakes" on all the fish selections.
Drinks were warm, and ordered late by waitress.
Mixed drinks were half full and full price...
New management as of 2 years ago.. not going back anytime soon..

First time guests and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. I tried the fish tacos and absolutely loVed them
Always a joy to come back home to visit and go with family to Old Channel Inn for dinner. We went this past Saturday night, total of 6 people. Service was great, as was the door and the entire evening. Fortunately coming back in a month and will be sure to stop by again.

Our server was great but the wait was insane (even when there was a table available but they prob called ahead which we tried but there was no answer.) The prime rib was tasteless the smothered Chechen was smothered with sliced cheese that wasn’t melted and the bacon could haven been bacon bits it was so burned (one whole piece) the mashed potatoes were supposed to be garlic mash but were so sweet they were gross. We waited an hour for our food after waiting over an hour for our table so we ate what was served but I had to dip it in ranch to make the chicken edible. Alcohol prices were insane!!
