We recently adopted two cats from Black Cat Beanery. The staff and volunteers are excellent, and the animals are well cared for. The cat room is spacious so you can play and interact with the kitties. So whether you need some cat therapy or are looking to adopt, I highly recommend this place.

I think I'm here close to weekly at this point either alone or with my kids! Everyone who works/volunteers here are the nicest people, they keep things insanely clean, and after having been to many other cat cafes here are some important differences that make them in my opinion better and the best we've been to: 1. They are kid friendly. They care about the cats being treated nicely of course, but they don't automatically scoff at children. My kids love Cats and are gentle and kind to the cats. Other cafes we've gone to have often made it seem like kids are very much unwelcome. 2. The cats are healthy and well cared for. This is the ONLY cafe I have been to where it wasn't a bunch of cats that were clearly suffering from some soft of respiratory affliction with running noses and goopy eyes and just a general look of being really unwell which would always make us feel terrible. The cats at Black Cat are clearly getting proper care, medical attention, love, diets etc. While I wish I could take them all home with me, I don't feel terrible when I leave because I know they have quite the nice setup where they are. 3. The cats are friendly and the ones who aren't interested in human interaction aren't forced into it. Other cafes we've gone to often don't have a private back area for the cats to escape to or enclosed cat houses which means at other cafes we don't really know the temperament of the cats because there is nowhere for them to hide and it's resulted in more than one bite/scratch. Black cat really knows the personalities of their cats and works hard to protect them. If they know a cat isn't quite warmed up they have safe spaces for the cat to be in the room but away from people, they have a backroom the cats can run off to when they've had enough and the biggest sign of their patience love and dedication is because I come there often I have had the chance to see many cats go from being scared or skittish to being playful and confident.
If you are looking for a fun activity to do in Oakland County, looking for some sweet cats to play with or adopt, I definitely recommend Black Cat Beanery!

Black Cat has become part of our regular entertainment rotation. We aren’t at a point where it is feasible to have a cat, so visiting the kitties gives us our cat fix while we know we’re also contributing to their finding their forever homes. Very open area with a range of play/rest/getaway spots for the cats. Toys to entice them to play as well as seating for cuddles. You can purchase treats, too, and the cats have learned that those entering are likely to have foodstuffs. You will be mobbed, food or not! And the coffee is well above average! Lots of cute merch, should that be your thing, too. Do a little for your own self-care by visiting Black Cat Beanery 🐈⬛

Was in contact with someone in regards to a donation on messenger. Stopped in and was impressed with the care and professionalism of the staff. Go get your kitty fix! Took my toddlers there on a cold day to play with cats and get some wiggles out. Great for older kids who can sit still longer. We got a snack and a drink, and lots of cat play time.

My daughter and I went here on a Tuesday afternoon. I booked our admission online and added a treat for the cats to our admission. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The cats were super playful and friendly. Very clean area and well organized. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended! We loved our experience!
