The food was excellent! Try the flautas, and don't forget the horchata.

Bad food, dirty, and they still have flies in the middle of winter. Food comes out fast but the restaurant as a whole is very low effort.

Decent foot - like the single price across lunch items. Selection was ok, as was taste of the food. Nothing jumped out.

I placed a to go order over the phone and once I arrived food was ready as promised. The staff were very kind and service was great. The food itself wasn't all that great. I have spent many years traveling the nation and even going to Mexico so I know great Mexican food. I believe the food wasn't made with love and that makes a big difference in the taste.

The rice is hard and flavorless, the service is awful. Do not come here.

1st time here and there were so many options I wasn't sure what to try! The enchiladas turned out fantastic. The chips and salsa when you sit down are amazing!

I've rated this place before. but we all know how things change. Usually for down thumb. Well this place is still ALWAYS Up Thumb! I am not Hispanic. But White. Ya think that matters there? Nope. Have had the door held open for me by patrons and have a special waitress that knows me and i get my Margarita and Shot of Tequila the second i walk in the door. My designated table is by the jukebox. MY SPOT. think they actually keep it clear for me. LOL. great food... good drinks and great staff and patrons. What more could you ask for?By the way...my tab with drinks is usually less then 25 bucks...I leave a 10 buck tip...ya knowwhy? anything i ask for any way i want it I GET it and always GOOD! Think about it for a second...is it worth it? Wont answer that question as we all know how many times we went somplace and paid the big bucks to get a meal we tossed after the first bite!!!

Most of the Mexican food is good at El Maguey. But the chicken tacos ? are terribly dry. Even with any taco sauce. So gross. And at $11 bucks on the lunch menu is a bit high priced for a lunch menu. The beans and flavored rice is tasty not dry. The other food a week ago is the Chimichangas. The lettuce inside is wilted and wet. Not to my liking that's for sure. And it was way too much it made me sick the rest of the day omg!!! I actually did not feel well after eating the chimichangas. Half hour later it was not agreeing with. I will not come here again. High priced Mexican food. The quality of the food is mediocre at best.. but the tacos with chicken was as dry as the Sahara dessert ?. Sorry to say this but Taco Bell tastes much better then El Maguey. I give 2 stars out of 5 stars in customer service and quality of the food. I'm surprised there isn't more negative reviews. Oh by the way. The service was extremely slow, especially last Wednesday, September 28. Took my whole ½ hour lunch. Unbelievable!Parking: Need to open more parking spaces for El Maguey customers. At $11 to $16 per meal there definitely should be better parking lot space

I've been here several times for lunch during the week. The food is delicious and well-priced. I especially enjoy the molé sauce on the chicken enchiladas. Great for lunch and some friends have gone for dinner and they were happy.

Bad food. Good service and environment. My mom and I stopped by after seeing Blue Beetle the other day. Were in the mood for some Mexican food and our usual Azteca in Madison Heights was closed at the time. As soon as we stepped in we felt like we were transported back to Mexico. Authentic music, vibe and we were the only non latinos. Sadly that's where the good experience ended. My mom got the trio fajita, I ordered nachos and 2 red Birria tacos. The tacos were plain and had no flavour. The nachos were stale, barely had any meat and the cheese they use tastes like Kraft as opposed to Azteca and most of southwest Detroit's Oaxaca cheese. It shows too. The nachos lack any real sense of taste and desperately needed something to spice them up. The birria tacos looked fresh, but just had no real taste to them. We ended up spending almost 60 bucks in there and needless to say my mom was very upset with having to pay for that quality of food at that price. Last time I'll be cheating on my usual Mexican spot lol.
