the meat looks bad before they cook it. you can tell the raw meat is already warm before they cook it.
I would call this place a "best-kept secret," except that there's nothing secret about it. Located on the food court at Fashion Square Mall, and while other outlets around it have come and gone, Yummy Japan goes on strong. If you go at 6:00 or so, there's always a long line. Sometimes you have to wait a bit, but it's worth it. This is my younger daughter's favorite place to eat (they know us there after multiple visits). The staff is very courteous and efficient. You can customize your order if you like. Honestly, we always get the teriyaki chicken, but that's because it's awesome. It's the best I've ever had in Saginaw, and it's not even close. This includes the old Genji, Hokkaido, and a few other spots. Please patronize this place and keep it in business. It's a gem.

Just as good as I remembered from when I was a child! The atmosphere is bland, so I always order to-go. The prices have definitely gone up, but I’m willing to pay for good food. I did have to pay $2.59 for extra chicken so this picture shows an adult plate with white rice, extra chicken and extra teriyaki sauce. My total was $12 and change. I personally have never tried the other sides (crab cheese, egg rolls) and I possibly never will but I recommend the chicken and sauce. ?
