I have been a fan of the Buck for years. As a local St Joe resident, I loved what they did with this underutilized space. I could always rely on the quality of their food and service, while appreciating their affordable prices. After visiting the establishment this evening, I feel something significant has changed here. The vibe of the place is gone. Gone too is quality of food. The burger I was served was dry, overcooked and for me not edible. The service was cold and incompetent. The whiskey drink I was served was watered down. The “music” being piped over their PA system was too loud, and not really music, more some interviews stuff.
Basically I’m really sad to see a once proud and cool joint fall into this morass. I don’t plan to come back.

We had a terrible experience here. We waited for over an hour while people who came after us were served their food. The waitress claimed she had told us there would be a long wait, but that never happened. When we finally said we were leaving, the staff were rude, charged us for two drinks, and never once offered an apology or any sort of gesture to make things right. No accountability, no courtesy. Save your time, money, and energy—this place is not worth it.

just stopped by after an afternoon on the beach and got a beer and chicken tenders with fries to share. both the food and drinks were delicious and our server was so sweet. it was pretty busy but we weren't left waiting for anything and the atmosphere was fun!

This was my first time here. What a poor experience it was. We were told our party would be split into two tables but that they were right next to each other. They were not even close enough for us to speak to each other and worse, one was a high top and one a low top. We waited an hour and a half for our food. Meanwhile, the party next to us arrived significantly later than us but received their food right away. Once the food came, it was not worth the wait- not even close. I had the protein bowl which was below mediocre and tasted as though it had been sitting in the window for a long time. The chips that came with my sister’s sandwich were tasteless and burnt and her sandwich was soggy. Our server was not attentive, friendly or prompt. The server next to us was checking in on her tables far more frequently. After complaining to the manager, she only took off 15% from our tab. Finally, they had the audacity to add an 18% gratuity to our tab even after we expressed that we were having a poor experience. There are many better options in the area which are still close to the beach. Save your time, money, and taste buds.

The burgers at The Buck are unbeatable, the buns are fresh and the toppings are on point. We also had the ahi tuna as an appetizer which was as good as any that I’ve had at a sushi restaurant. I also recommend sitting on the deck if the weather is nice. It’s cozy and overlooks the big lake.

IF you like the greasiest burgers, everything fried and soaked with salt for $85+20% you can get two of the saltiest crab cakes for 21 dollars alone, get two burgers, and two beers here! Environment is not very clean-- waitress was however very kind and lively but was making us feel very rushed even though we were 1 of 4 groups seated.

The food and service at this restaurant are fantastic. The burgers are great in particular. Location is a plus also being within walking distance of the beach.

Really good veggie burger
This place has so much potential. Great location and rooftop. However, the food was subpar, service was horrendous, and the restaurant is very dirty.

Worst food that I have ever been served in a restaurant . Soggy onion rings. Soggy fried fish. Burnt potato chips. I make homemade chips at home and you do not have to burn them to make them crispy. My patty melt did not have fried onions. Then the waitress said that the whole restaurant hasnt had 1 onion, as we try to eat the soggiest onion rings that I have ever been served. $50 later and we ended up at Taco Bell.

Overhead lights in the booths are a little intense. Especially the one by the host stand.
Cool place, nice vibe, good food and drinks. Much larger inside than it appears from outside.

The Buck is absolutely fantastic! The burgers are not only amazing but also very reasonably priced, which is a rare find these days. Our server was out of this world—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. We will definitely be coming back!
