Bland food; no seasoning and DEFINITELY not deserving of New Orleans style food category. “Cajun Cream Sauce” missing descriptive red peppers and tastes like flour; chicken tastes old.

I’ve tried their food a couple of times, and it never disappoints. The menu has very few options, but each dish is packed with flavor and stands out from the usual offerings. If you’re looking for something different, it’s definitely worth a try!

Music on TV was too loud. Service was awesome! I don't have a lot to go on to base the food off of, but as far as I'm concerned it was the best that I have ever had!
Parking: Tiny parking lot and not very easy to find.

Nestled in the charming town of St. Joseph, Nola Roux offers a delightful taste of New Orleans cuisine with a fresh, local twist. As soon as you step inside, the warm ambiance, accented with subtle jazz music, transports you to the heart of the Big Easy.
The menu is a vibrant mix of classic Cajun and Creole dishes, with standout options like the jambalaya and gumbo that are both rich and flavorful. The seafood is particularly impressive; the shrimp and grits are creamy and perfectly seasoned, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients.
For appetizers, the fried green tomatoes with remoulade are a must-try, providing a crispy and tangy start to the meal. The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall inviting atmosphere.
Dessert is a highlight, especially the beignets, which come dusted with powdered sugar and are best enjoyed hot.
Overall, Nola Roux captures the spirit of New Orleans while embracing local influences, making it a standout dining experience in St. Joseph. Perfect for a casual meal or a special occasion, it’s a restaurant that should be on every food lover’s radar.

Well, I don't think I got what I ordered. I ordered the Bourbon Beef, there was no bourbon flavor to it at all. I was a bit disappointed to say the least.

We tried a large assortment of items and all were very good. The Voodoo Jerk Chicken was my favorite ? You would be hard pressed to find a disappointing dish in their selection. You should try it. It's yummy.

Stopped in for a quick bite and it was wonderful! Easy to order, quick service and great flavor. We had the gumbo and I would definitely come back again and try more of their menu in the future. Gumbo was authentic to the south and just what you would expect to find in Louisiana.

My husband and I finally got the opportunity to stop in and try this place out and suffice to say, we were so impressed! The staff were so nice and accommodating, the atmosphere so comforting, and the food! It was so jam packed full of flavor and filling! Highly recommend and will visit again!

Should be called Nola Rude! Food was okay, service was rude to the point of being awkward! Get you a box of Uncle Ben's and spare yourself.
Food was just as good as I remembered it from a couple years ago. Jambalaya and shrimp po boy was amazing. Plenty of food and service was very good. Small hole in the wall location with good Nola music, but don't let it turn you away. It's not about the location it's about the FOOD. definite return trips when I'm in the area

I ordered the Bourbon Beef, Seafood Gumbo, and Cornbread (~$20) with DoorDash. I found this place... "Meh". Let's break down each dish:
Seafood Gumbo: 🍲
The Seafood Gumbo is the one I liked the most from the meal! It has flavor + spices. I found it's not fishy. Instead, it's quite calm with the seafood taste.
Cornbread: 🍞
The cornbread tastes like... cornbread! Both have a cakey thickness & crumbly. The pieces of bread were just fine.
Bourbon Beef: 🥘
I wanted to like this... The beef was a letdown. The beef does have flavor. It just arrived cold compared to the Gumbo. Plus, the vegetables taste + look similar to vegetables from a freezer aisle. 🙁
The beef dish really hurt the overall impression of the food. If they could use different vegetables - and ensure that the meat/rice arrives hot - that would be great. It would improve service for future customers.
For now: I am less likely to re-order if I were to return in town.

The food was very good, not too spicy, so maybe that's what other reviews were complaining about. But for Michigan, very good.
