Went to try the plant based meat options and they didn't disappoint! I got a supreme style pizza with plant based sausage and pepperoni. I ate my first slice right at the counter while Johnny Z himself awaited the verdict, 4 slices later I looked up and said DAMN that's a good pie! Fresh buttery crust, fresh toppings, perfect sauce, whole milk mozzarella (perfect cheese pull) and the best plant based Italian sausage I've ever had. Johnny Z's also has a full assortment of Faygo sodas. Before I forget I'd like to give a honorable mention to the Dill Pickle pizza I tried, may not be for everybody but if you love pickles I suggest getting a small one to try it out. Johnny Z's is the real deal. Local family owned business that treats you like family as well. Salute to the Johnny and the whole crew, you guys are amazing just like the pizza!🍻

Amazing quality deep dish pizza! We were in town for a baseball tournament. We ordered 28 large pizzas for our team and every person commented about how great the pizza was. The order was prompt and the pizza was hot and fresh. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped again on our way out of town and had another. It is well worth the stop.

Johnny Z’s Pizza is hands-down one of the best pizza spots in St. Clair Shores! Every time I order, the pizza is hot, fresh, and loaded with flavor. The crust is that perfect balance—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—and the toppings are always generous and high-quality.

Customer service is top-notch, too. The staff is friendly, fast, and they genuinely care about getting your order right. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or feeding a crowd, Johnny Z’s never disappoints.

If you’re a fan of great local pizza with that classic neighborhood charm, this is your go-to place. Highly recommend!

Wanted to try another local pizza place in the SCS area. Pizza was hot and ready when I arrived to pick it up. I was in the mood for a round this evening. Pizza was okay. After a few days, the buttery crust is what I remember most. Glad I tried it but I will probably continue to try other places next time.
Second day leftovers, not my favorite cold pizza and didn't reheat well in the microwave. Best to finish the day you bought it.

So many options to choose from in SCS, but when my wife got pregnant she only craves Johnny Z's. I can't complain, the food and service is always top notch and consistent. At other pizza places I can usually pick out one ingredient that is not as good as it could be, but not at JZ's, everything tastes amazing.

The last couple pizzas I’ve ordered were missing the magic I experienced (and tasted!) the first few times I tried Johnny Z’s. The cheese on my well done, square, pineapple and cheese pizza barely covered the sauce. They used tiny pineapple tidbits and were not very generous with the portion, similar to the cheese. It wasn’t bad enough to complain, but it wasn’t good enough to be Johnny Z’s. Not the way I remember it..

Food is always great. I recommend ALWAYS getting delivery. Delivery driver is probably the only person who works there that has any customer service experience.

We went yesterday to pick up our order (order a 100 times, but only my second time doing pick up). I got dropped off close to the door because I had a pretty larger order, about $115 worth of food. The girl at the counter was on the phone, while other lines were ringing, probably 5 people standing in the back not helping her. Another girl came up and asked if I was parked on the side of the building... I said yes, she the explained that I wasn't allowed to park there. Okay, I'm just grabbing my order. She then told me I had to move before she would give me the pizza. I went out got the truck moved. The girl never came back to help. Finally the other girl got off the phone and helped us. Parking was mentioned and a little irritated we mentioned that there wasn't a no parking sign so we didn't know. The girl then said we'll there used to be a sign there. I said well there isn't now. She says oh I remember your faces. Well 1. There is no way she remembered our faces. I have only been there fir ouck up twice in 10 years. 2. There isn't a sign. They should have one posted if they do not want customers to park there. 3. The rude girl from the back that told me I had to move my car before she would give me my pizza. Was obviously out of line. Disrespectful teenage kid. And what she should have said... how can I help you, helped me with my order and then made me aware there was no parking on the side of the building in the parking spots for next time.

Unfortunately we probably will not order again. Pickup or delivery. Customer service is awful. However pizza is good.

I have been looking for a good pizza besides the normal chain places for a long time and definitely found it here. One of those late nights where you're too tired to make anything so we gave it a shot and it was so good I almost went in and got another 1 for the next day cause we ate it in the parking lot. The thin crust is everything you expect it to be and the sauce is perfect. They have and everything pizza where they don't leave out certain things To make you pay for an extra topping. Looking forward to trying it again soon.

Best vegan pizza in metro-Detroit. Context, my wife and I have lived in Grosse Pointe Woods since 2020 and would regularly drive to Midtown to go to Pie Sci (still high on my list) for good vegan pizza. Johnny Z’s uses the vegan cheese we buy, not the cheap and plastic tasting options. The vegan pepperoni and sausage is also really good. Pizza is always fresh, always good. We highly recommend. The owner, his wife and children personally taste test their plant-based options before approving for the menu; hard to find that lever of care and passion. Also; the vegan ranch is FIRE!

Spectacular pizza! Usually go for Detroit-style/ deep dish, but ordered the round with the Parmesan flavored crust. Even with the toppings, it had a great undercarriage with zero flop. Highly recommended, will definitely be back! 8.7 - ifykyk
