Caribbean authentic cuisine

While I was in town for the holiday, I stopped by this restaurant and purchased a Curry Goat dinner and a Ox Tail dinner for my parents. I had the Jerk Chicken dinner. The quality of the food and portions were amazing. The fresh Ginger Juice is definitely required for the cold Michigan weather.

One word...delicious! Decided to swing by to pick up some dinner. And I sure wasn't disappointed. The chicken curry, sweet potatoes and peas and rice were full of Flavor! Go check out the Chef he's amazing!

Was in the mood for jerk chicken and after seeing the google reviews, we decided to give it a try. It was a Saturday, and there was only one gentleman working at the restaurant. However, we did not know this until after we paid for our meals. The man took our order, and went to the back to begin prepping the meals. As we waited, we noticed that there were at least 3 customers (one was a family of 5) ahead of us. We then waited exactly 2 HOURS and 15 minutes for our food!! TWO HOURS. That is absolutely ridiculous! As we waited, we noticed the other customers kept asking when their food will be ready.. He did not communicate with us regarding how long the wait will be, so we didn’t know if we should step out or continue to wait. We couldn’t even ask him because he went to the back to make the food and didn’t come back to the front. No explanation, no communication from the man. We watched at least 5 customers walk in, wait for someone to take their order, ring the bell on the desk, and then noticed no one was coming and then they walked out. We later discovered that one of his workers called in sick, so it was just him working; taking orders and making the food.

We found it quite rude and inconsiderate to not mention this to us before taking our order. It would’ve been nice to have a heads up, so we could’ve decided if we wanted to waste 2 hours of our Saturday evening JUST waiting for food. Our entire evening plans were ruined. We understand that things happen, and it was out of his control, but from my experience, when restaurants know they have slow service that day, they inform the customers to make sure that they are okay with waiting — or to come back when the food is ready.

When we finally got our food, it tasted alright. It wasn’t the greatest, it lacked flavour and the chicken tasted quite rubbery and was pink on the inside. It didn’t have the slow cooked taste, where the chicken comes right off of the bone. It just didn’t taste like the quality jerk we’ve had. Not worth the wait whatsoever! The man didn’t even apologize for the long wait.. The lack of workers could have definitely affected the taste and quality, however this was our honest experience, and unfortunately we will not be returning.

I was so excited when I stumbled upon this restaurant on social media being reviewd by an influencer and it was in my neighborhood. When I looked up the menu I was praying they had vegan items and they did!!! I got their Vegetable plate (cabbage, collard greens, yams, plantains, rice with beans) very nice size portions. The Chef was so sweet he hooked me up with a nice size sample of the veggie Rasta Pasta which was SUPER DELICIOUS 😋! I was so upset at myself for not getting a full order. My whole order was awesome. I'm not a fan of Yams but they came with the order and when I say that was my absolute Favorite next up after the Rasta Pasta. Next up, that cabbage was so flavorful and cooked with the right amount of crunch. Overall, everything was great and I'm now trying to figure out how to add this to my weekly budget. Trust me, they will soon know my name and order when I come because they've earned a faithful customer!

The food takes a while but is WOW. So flavorful and tasty. We tried the jerk chicken and pasta Rasta and it’s definitely a bite of full flavor. Would definitely be back to order food for carry out.

My boyfriend and I finally tried Chef Nev's food after driving by Caribbean Authentic Cuisine so close to home for years and we can't wait to return. We ordered large orders of oxtail with greens and jerk chicken with plantains, plus 4 patties (2 spicy beef, beef & cheese and chicken) for lunch the next day. Every single thing was delicious. The oxtails were tender and melt-in-your mouth; greens were cooked well and not mushy; jerk chicken was juicy and SPICY; the plantains could've been more ripe, but we're in MI and it's December so it is what it is; patty filled was well seasoned and the crust was nice and flaky. The servings are very generous and it was enough food for dinner for 2 and lunches for each of us for 2 more days. Everything was SO flavorful, well-seasoned and well-cooked. Chef Nev was welcoming and kind and showed love for his craft which you can taste in his food. He's a one-man-show, so best to order ahead online and pick it up because he takes care and time preparing the food. We'll be back soon to try his curried goat and the snapper.

Man runs the place by himself respect that but everytime people order from here they sit inside wait 30-45 minutes. He had a beeping sound going off in the kitchen for the whole 45 minute wait drove people inside crazy would not turn off the beeping noise. Needs to have some music playing. The wait for a 1 small order was ridiculous. You need to hire another cook the wait time is insane.

We had a great experience with Authentic Caribbean Cuisine. The oxtail and jerk chicken were flavorful and well-spiced, tender and juicy, and folks there were really great and creative about giving us sides we asked for despite Grubhub app technical issues. Much appreciation for great food and customer service.

came here last night with my boyfriend. we got two oxtail dinners totalling 66$. the food had no authentic jamaican flavor the ox tail didn’t even come with butter beans.
i’m jamaican and usually get my fix in chicago but decided to come support and will not be back.
