Flour Shop Bakery & Pizza

We love the cakes here . We have purchased for over 20 yrs. Today I called to place an order , same time every year. Only to be told I had to pay for a cake I’m going to pick up on Saturday. $130 cake that I won’t see until Saturday but will be paid for with no refund if I don’t like it. When did this start? I’ve never prepaid for a cake. I’m very disappointed because I don’t feel comfortable with this and my family loves the cake. Saddens me to say good bye.

Called to inquire about some cupcakes for a gender reveal. As I was explaining my vision, the lady on the phone kept cutting me off and telling me “hold on”. I just was wondering if they did gender reveal cupcakes with the color frosting in the middle. She replied “well that just sounds difficult I don’t even know how we would do that.” Didn’t offer anything that they could do to help accommodate my request so just decided to make them myself which was very easy.

I tried to redeem that experience by going in and inquiring about a cake for my baby shower. Got a similar vibe from a gentleman working like how the lady on the phone was. We had a couple basic questions like how much does a sheet cake or half sheet cost and serve. He replied “all of our prices are on our website.” Interesting way to treat a customer…. obviously we aren’t currently looking at the website we are inquiring in person. Very normal question of us to ask, I’m not sure why he was inconvenienced by that. Asked if they could do a basic, elegant border or something similar to which he replied by walking over to the cakes in the display case and saying “this is the border we would do”. Interesting that a bakery can only do one type of border. Got the vibe this wasn’t where we should order from because of the poor customer service. Border I asked for that they weren’t willing to do attached below

We were really sad to loose Truffles bakery in Michigan City Indiana, but this weekend my husband surprised me with a cake from the Flour shop bakery and OMG... IT WAS SO GOOD!! Similar to Truffles but in my opinion a little better. So happy he found you!!

Fantastic all around. My family has been customers of the Flour Shop for years, and when it came time for my wedding, I had no doubt they would be excellent for the job. Our cake was breathtaking, they were easy to work with, exceptionally kind, and delivered and assembled the cake with no problems. We saved our top tier of cake, and enjoyed a year later, and it was just as delicious as our wedding day.

The donuts were okay. The cakes were awesome.

Good family business. Someone should help and donate some time to update their sign. I know times are tough out there and this family is deserving of a sign up date. They don't serve pizza anymore but their sign says that they do. But anyhow, I realize it's expensive to get signs updated. So I'm reaching out to my Google community to maybe help this family with getting a sign up date

Yes the cakes and especially pies are delicious but I don't know about the service. I ordered pies for the holiday and drove over 2 hours to get them. When I got there, they casually DID NOT have my order nor any record of it, and tried to suggest that I may have called the wrong place!!!! THE NERVE. My family has been purchasing from this place for 20 years, I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE I CALLED. I purchased a different pie but they didn't seem to care either way. It's hard for me to support such businesses. IJS🤷

Lovely place I come every weekend or every other weekend and it’s so lovely in there! The people are so friendly and helpful besides the one guy that’s middle-aged with reddish facial hair… he’s a bit irritable every time we go in but besides that I would 1000% recommend if you want an amazing atmosphere with great pastries that make you feel at home.

This is my favorite place to get cakes! They taste so light and creamy, perfect level of sweetness and moisture.

Wow! Delightful and delicious. The Bavarian cream is so light and airy - not overly sweet, just perfect! We also really enjoyed a mini key like pie and an almond-coconut macaroon. We’ll definitely be back to try the German chocolate cake, cheesecake, and so much more!

Also very friendly service with pleasant conversation and helpful info and suggestions.

We bought pacskis (forgive spelling) for fat Tuesday. We could not get the strawberry because they were short-handed with the help. They were delicious. Can't wait for next year.

Every time I have visited their location on John Beers, I have been absolutely blown away at the number of choices to choose from. I usually go in looking for one pie or cake. Instead I end up leaving with a multitude of different breads, cakes and pies. I highly recommend them as your go to bakery and pizza.

I think this bakery might just be the best I’ve ever been to! Hands down best tiramisu - just like my Oma’s. And the Bee Sting Cake? Mind blowing. Will definitely be back if I’m ever in the area.
