Amazing local diner, place where locals are known by name and visitors are welcomed with open arms. Prices are fair and food is amazing!! Screw mcdonalds, eat here instead!

We were just expected to wait for a dozen people to pay BEFORE we could be seated! Can't be more rude! They obviously didn't want our money.

I came in with my mom, aunt ( mayor's mom), my husband, and little boy(age 6). Waitress/ service was horrible.
First, she took our drink order, We all ordered water except my aunt. I told her we were ready to order, and she said she wasn't ready. She comes around 5-7 minutes later, and she's asked if everything was okay, and I tell her we are ready to order. He response was the same. She wasn't ready to take our order. I asked her nicely how much the coffee was, and the owners response was to wait in line at the cash register behind 4 other customers. Now, I have never drank a cup of coffee in my life. So I left $2 at the table ? The owner ran out screaming because "coffee is more than $2" Of course, she catches my mom, who walks slow because of her recent knee surgery. My mom gave her $5 because she was screaming like we stole something from her. I don't think it was appropriate for the owner to run after an old lady and take her money. All the people watching her and losing customers are not worth $5. I would've gladly left more money if she would've told me when I asked how much it was for a cup of regular coffee.

I'm in educational leadership, and I'm not asking for handouts; I'm asking for good service and someone who cares about customers. That's it! I can afford my food and drinks. I just don't have patience for actions from owners who think $5 will break them.
I know she knows she did wrong because I went back and she didn't even come near my table. There was no apology from the waitress or the owner. I spent $140 the second time around and left a good tip. Moral - I will not be returning to this location because a simple "I'm sorry we were busy," or "sorry I -" anything. Would've been fine.
She made the choice to choose money over a customer.

Being in leadership takes a lot of communication, commitment, and sacrifice. Obviously, this place lacks leadership!

Where to begin. We try to support local business, but no one makes it as hard as the Corner Cafe. We’ve only come back so many times because, well, there’s not many choices in town.

Staff complains about having customers, acts like they don’t even want you there. Management complains loudly about their low pay, but does nothing to bring in or keep more business. Complain if you come in a whole hour before closing. Complain if you try to make a to go order, when they are busy, yet you can see a half empty restaurant. Will literally turn you away instead of asking if you mind waiting. Complains they can’t take more customers because they don’t have enough help, yet treats the new help they hire like garbage in front of customers. Will not answer a phone or take phone orders. Only open one day on the weekend, yet this is the day they close early.

When the town is clearly needing a good breakfast option, why wouldn’t you take the opportunity? They turn away large business orders, can’t clearly post their menu online, and literally will ask you, the customer, to turn people away that are coming toward the door for them. “Please tell them we’re about to close and then lock the door”. 45 minutes before closing. The cook will come out and complain when you order only to notice you’re right there and can hear him, no apology from anyone. The best way I can describe it, they couldn’t care less and don’t want to work. And have no problem making it very apparent. The food is mid.

The main waitress couldn’t be worse at customer service. If she isn’t belittling you or making you feel bad for being a customer, she may do the opposite and talk to you through your whole meal, constantly interrupt your visit and drive you absolutely mad.

They clearly treat their regulars that they like well enough, and every one else like an inconvenience.

Also, they won’t just charge you for adding ingredients, they will charge you for anything you ask them not to put on as well. Absurd. Cheeseburger: 9.99
No onion: +1.59
No tomato: +1.00
Add mayo: +2.79!!!

This is not a one time bad experience. This is a summary of many collective bad experiences!

Do yourself a favor and get Bread and Butter Kitchen a few doors down instead. Their breakfast isn’t the best, might give you a few trips to the bathroom, but they will at least take your order. The bar is low my friends.
