We enjoyed our dinner at The Thistle. Service was good but a bit on the inattentive side, and the atmosphere felt a bit in need of a refresh but still very comfortable.

Their steaks are nicely cut and seasoned, and ours arrived true to order.

Used to serve food here. Knowing how things works behind the curtains I can totally recommend this place. Food is amazing and made from local ingredients. Thistle fries are something that you cannot find anywhere else.
Service is exceptional and I often compare other food places to this one when it comes to customer care.

I hosted an event here for Michigan Association of County Treasurers. From start the finish, everything was amazing! The Manager, Justin made sure we had enough servers. We had 30 people in our party and pre-ordered our entrees. From the moment we arrived, the staff was impeccable. Everyone was smiling, attentive, and kept the food and drinks coming continuously. Justin and his team made sure that we were very well taken care of. The atmosphere was so relaxed and the food was delicious. I highly recommend hosting an event here. They have a separate room that can be used for larger parties. I will definitely be back to the Thistle Bar and Grill when at Crystal Mountain Resort.

Dietary restrictions: They do have gluten free bun options for their sandwiches too.

The food is fantastic, and the service was amazing (I believe the wiatresses' name was Corina). Highly recommend the Thistle if you are in the area. Sausage gumbo was phenomenal, and the cheesecake may be the best I've ever had. The thistle fries are also a slam dunk. In fact, I tried a little bit of everyone's food, and I don't think there is anything there that isn't delicious. I even tried the beet salad and thought that was pretty good even though I don't even like beets. Waitress made sure we had everything we needed and was very friendly and professional. She was really the perfect example of a good wait staff.

Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly with a kids menu and soft drink selection. The wait staff treated the kids excellent and made sure they enjoyed their time.

We visited The Thistle with a large group (17 people) last weekend and had an excellent time. It was easy to make a reservation, by calling a few weeks ahead due to the large group, and everything went off without a hitch thanks to the wonderful staff!

All of the people in our group enjoyed the food, from the appetizers all the way to dessert, and enjoyed the overall experience. In particular, the highlights seemed to be the Thistle Fries, the Roasted Duck, the Filet & Ribeye, and the wonderful seafood starters.

If you are looking for a nice place to have dinner at Crystal Mountain, I would recommend The Thistle!

Parking: We walked from our room, but there was a good sized parking lot.

Kid-friendliness: We had a large group that included 7 kids and we had no issues.

Everything was good. I don't know if the food was worth the price, but it was great. I am unaware of the sourcing of the food. The potatoes were good. The duck was of the best I have had. The service was top notch. I enjoyed eating outside overlooking the hill in the summer.

My wife and I ate here last night after a few hours of skiing. Staff and waitress was very nice and provided good service. We ordered the thistle fries for an appetizer and they were outstanding. Best food of the night. I decided to get the Butcher Block which was a 16 oz ribeye. It ended up being $75 for the steak, which seems steep for a ribeye, especially considering it was one of the worst ribeye's I think I've ever tasted. I don't understand how, but this steak had basically zero flavor, and was extremely chewy. I ordered it medium rare, and it was barely pink in the center. I should have sent it back and complained, however, the food took a while to come out and after a few hours of skiing, I was ready to go home. Very disappointed that a $75 ribeye could be cooked so bad. My wife got the halibut which was decent but dry with no seasoning, also a bit disappointing for a $50 piece of fish. Would come back here only for drinks and thistle fries.
