The Thistle

I got the side of mushroom risotto and the calamari appetizer. The mushroom risotto was very bland and had way too much lemon. I spent $23 for the calamari and it maybe had 10-20 small pieces. Getting just these two items took over 25 minutes. I’m very disappointed with the food and service so early on in my stay.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! Consistently delicious. The filet will melt on your mouth. Some of the best calamari. The cocktails are top notch. The views are incredible. We went multiple times on our short stay!

Nice restaurant with good food and pleasant and attentive wait staff. It is a resort restaurant so it is good for that. Well decorated but the constant bagpipe music knocks it down a star on Atmosphere.

Super nice staff and beautiful ambiance. We ordered the burger with truffle fries. Burgers was big but had no flavor. They use Irish cheddar which is super mild too. The fries were cut almost like thick potato chips that curled in. They were great. The blackened chicken was good.

Atrocious service tonight! Called ahead for a small party and the host said we could be seated right away (didn't take our names), walked in to find a line out the door, was put on a 30-45 minute wait-list, and waited well beyond that while many tables sat open. The wait staff didn't offer water, a seat at the bar, anything. Each time we checked in, they brusquely turned us away. We've been coming here for over 25 years and this is the worst service we've ever experienced at Crystal.

Tasty Ruben & good service

We have been going here for years as we visit Crystal Mountain and we enjoy eating at The Thistle. Unfortunately, the filet mignon was not good, and for $65, I expect flavor. It usually is delicious, but not this time. It had no seasoning and tasted so bland. The mashed potatoes were just as bland. Everything was flavorless. I had to use salt and pepper to give it some flavor, but it didn’t help. I won’t be ordering filet again and hope the Thistle can do better next time we visit. We were completely disappointed and wished we had go e somewhere else. Makes me sick we paid so much for such a bland meal.

Another complaint is why not have more options on the menu. It’s always the same. It would be nice to have more of a variety of fish dishes, offer baked potatoes instead of bland mashed potatoes, wild rice to go with fish dishes and more creative dishes.

Didn't get to try the food. We waited over an hour and finally left. They have very minimal seating. It looks cute and the people are nice, just disappointed there is no seating options but for a few at a time.

A fabulous grilled Italian Melt and wonderfully attentive service by young Vietnamese student on J 1 visa. Loved the decor.
