We ordered two General Tso dinners and one order of Crab Rangoons. Some of the chicken wasn't cooked. Some had no chicken, just breading. The Rangoons had no crab in it. Sad. Considering it was 30.00.

They only offer takeout however, they do not have any knives for you to cut any food that you might order. I am traveling therefore I understood I would have to eat in my car but you won't give me a knife to cut my chicken. I demanded a refund I was so mad. A restaurant with no knives.

The sweet and sour chicken is very good the spicy beef I got is actually spicy I've been to a few different Chinese restaurants and ordered the spicy beef and it wasn't spicy at all

Ive gone to shong hey since they opened up in the late 60s. Theres no comparison.. their serving sizes are large every single time. Take out is steaming hot. I have not one single complaint even after all these years! I recommend highly!

(2022) you can't even trust people to be honest with reviews anymore if people were honest with what they thought about this place it would be a two-star Chinese restaurant at best, instead we're subjected to this gen z everybody's awesome crap, no sorry not this place, this place still sucks. It's post COVID and they still use the COVID excuse for their crap hours and days of operation, took almost 2 years to try this place again and guess what ??? CLOSED! on the weekend now, still at 8pm??? How do these people stay open? Who is so desperate for mediocre Chinese food that they put themselves through the hoops this place requires to even get food? Oh well! Not like Chinese food is hard to find. Goodbye aging shung hey, probably won't be back after this last try. Waaaaay too many other options available literally EVERYWHERE near by.

They continue like this they will eventually have to change their hours to just "closed". I'm going to the other Chinese places that are open during dinner hours...

I've been eating here my entire life. I'm 33 now. I remember coming in here when I was a kid and ordering hot tea, they used to bring it out in a silver teapot on a platter. There used to be a painting that hung on the wall and it looked like magic because it appeared to be moving. When I was a kid I truly felt like this place was magic, when I came back as an adult I couldn't believe that it wasn't as I remembered it. While the outside is worn, trust that the food is just the same and the absolute perfect nostalgic fix I need when I return home to see my family. I absolutely adore this place and I hope they remain in business for the next 100 years. ❤️

My coworker has been bragging about this place, only order because our go to restaurant was closed that day, we ordered General tsao chicken dinners, them not having water chestnuts should have been the sign, order was ready in 10 minutes was the 2nd sign, got the food came home open the box, it looked ok but the box is not stuffed like how our go to does, chicken tasted like orange chicken and rice needed soy sauce, never again lol if China star not open I'll just eat Ramen Noodles an be happy ??♂️
