Stopped in for a quick bite after running errands. Not a fan. Honestly surprised that this place has as high of reviews as it does. I could imagine for someone looking for a club vibe on a Friday night this might be the move, but if you’re looking for decent Japanese cuisine with even a relatively authentic Japanese vibe, this is not the place to go. The sushi was firmly below subpar, the service was ok but nothing to rave about, and we were auto-charged a 20% gratuity fee for our group of two when on the receipt it says it only applies to groups of five or more. We would’ve tipped 20% anyway, but it’s the principle of the thing. The whole experience was mediocre at best. Cant speak for hibachi experience, but dropping over $100 for a meal for 2 feels egregious for what we experienced.

Alana provided excellent service during our visit to Nara. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. She checked on us regularly, kept our drinks refilled, and was always pleasant and professional. Her positive attitude and great customer service made our dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear she cares about her guests and takes pride in her work. Thank you, Alana, for making our visit such a great one!

Assma made our experience the best. She was friendly and made everyone at the table eat their veggies. She was personable and ensured all ate well while enjoying their service. I hope she wins $100 because I couldn’t afford to leave it in the tip!!

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. This is extremely overpriced for the quality of Hibachi it was. We ordered and appetizer and it never came, and we were still charged for it. We never got the chance to tell our server (Alana) because she only came to our table twice, once to take our order and then to give us the incorrect bill. We had to cash out with the bartender because we waited 20+ minutes for her to cash us out. She walked past our table many times and would not acknowledge us. They automatically charge 20% gratuity, so there is no need for the servers to be decent. Overall, we were very disappointed in our experience.

The staff was very professional and attentive. Offered suggestions and the follow up on when we needed something our server timing was spot on. We had a great experience and when I saved up for our next dinner adventure, I will be back here for sure.

All was money well spent. The service was good, but needed to ask for napkins, to go bags-items that should be automatically included when taking to-go after dining.

was served by Rei and Neila today on the patio, had an exceptional experience. He recommended amazing drinks like his special kiwi drink and the Nara night drink. He was very informative about the menu and things to try. Would come back again for the vibes and food!

Restaurantji Recommends
We celebrated our son’s birthday at Nara yesterday, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
The food was just okay, and the service throughout the evening was slow. However, what really ruined the occasion was how the restaurant handled the birthday cake.
When it was time to bring out the cake that we had brought with us, our table was still covered with dirty and empty plates from dinner. Instead of clearing the table and preparing for the celebration, the staff simply placed the cake on the table and walked away.
We then had to flag someone down to ask for a knife so we could cut the cake. We also needed clean plates and forks, but instead of providing them, the staff brought us small plastic takeout containers and suggested that we serve the cake in those boxes.
At that point, I was genuinely upset. We asked them to repackage the cake, took it with us, and ended up celebrating elsewhere.
For a restaurant that regularly hosts birthday celebrations, this level of service was surprising and unacceptable. In most restaurants, staff help make the occasion special by clearing the table, providing plates and utensils, and assisting with serving the cake. None of that happened here.
We’ve celebrated several birthdays at Nara over the years because it was our son’s favorite restaurant, but after this experience, we won’t be returning.

I had such an amazing birthday evening thanks to Assma! From the moment we sat down, she made us laugh and feel so welcome. She was funny, personable, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Her energy truly made the night extra special. Between the outstanding service and delicious food, this was a birthday dinner to remember. Because of Assma and the overall experience, I will definitely be back!
