after the video I watched from my sons snowmobiling trip. I will never stay there or even walk into this place. the way they treat their customers is horrible. especially the ones from another state. way to represent the U.P.
Kelly was great with service and customer relations. I highly recommend a visit
I have been to the restaurant twice. The hot beef sandwich is top notch and so was the rest of the food we tried, and the price was very reasonable, but the food is not what makes Konteka my favorite dining experience.
Konteka is my all-time favorite dining experience because they feed the leftovers to the wild bears living in the Porcupine Mountains State Parks. Naturally, the bears are wild animals so they come and go as they please, but we watched them come and go for hours on our second visit. We barely missed them on our first visit as it was windy, and they came out about ten minutes after we left. It was well worth returning to Konteka, and we hope to come back someday soon.

We had a blast. The pool table, darts, bowling, and the jukebox was all ours on a Friday night. No it's not a Holiday Inn, but it's pure yooper and that makes the Konteka even better for us! 30+ years and still love staying here whenever I visit the Porcupines.
Rooms: Clean and quiet.
Nearby activities: Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park.
Safety: Totally safe.
Food and drinks: They do a good job.
Noteworthy details: The pool is awesome shape, best sticks in da woods.

Food was mediocre. Online hyped it up a lot more than it really was. Sad because it looked like a lovely restaurant, and food looked amazing from Ads online BUT was rather unimpressed

I really enjoyed the food and very friendly staff. The best was watching the big bears come out to eat. I highly recommend this restaurant with such a unique atmosphere.

Sadly was not impressed. Food was mediocre. Online hyped it up a lot more than it really was. Sad because it looked like a lovely restaurant, and food looked amazing from Ads online BUT was rather disappointed. As the food advertised did not match the food served at all. Our waitress wasn't very attentive or helpful to us. The bartender lady (didn't get name) was very helpful to us and had gave great service, even though we weren't "her" customers.
This is the place to get an amazing view of bears because they feed them daily. We ate dinner there in order to see the bears and were fortunate to see two huge black bears as we ate dinner! We really enjoyed the food and our server was great! The bears were so fun to watch from the wall of glass windows overlooking the bears feeding spot! We watched the two bears eating clover and they hung around for a long time. They also have a souvenir shop to buy mementos. Very cool bear viewing location and I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant!

Did not get to see any bears (which out of their control so we understand), but as soon as we walked in there was no one around, the food was okay we liked the cheese curds, but while we were there there was a lot of seagulls in the viewing yard and when the man went out to feed the bears he purposefully ran over one of the seagulls. This was not a pleasant thing to see while dining somewhere, and when he came back inside we overheard the workers joking about hitting more of them.

We came here mainly because you were very likely to see wild bears here. The inside of the restaurant is huge, very dated but clean. When we walked in there was no one around so we had to wander to the kitchen to find someone. We sat right next to the huge picture window which overlooked the "feed area" (they leave food out for the bears). It was a rainy day, so while we saw a bunch of birds, there were no bears. The food (a house burger and a French dip) was decent but nothing special.

We stopped here for lunch, and it was a blast. Our server, Veronica, took such good care of us!! We even got in a game of bowling and saw one of their black bears!! Fun spot!

We actually didn't stay here, just dined for supper. We had no idea this place existed. But the food was most excellent! ? We were all very happy with our selections. I had the hot beef sandwish dinner, and it was awesome! Great sampler platter as well. All the staff there are really nice and work as hard as they can. Plus, we had someone else dining with us all as well. A big blackie stopped in for some grub, so that was cool too. So we'll definitely hafta stop in here again.
Noteworthy details: Great view of the birds and bears!
