Depot Smokehouse and Tavern

Ordered a Smokestack Burger for pick up and it was SO GOOD. Asked for medium, came out perfect. Real, hand pattied burger was juicy and we were both just so delighted. Fries were tasty and the service was so friendly. Great visit, will gladly return. On the spendy side but when you're spending slightly less money on frozen patties elsewhere, it is just so worth the price for this pride and passion for a dang good burger.

We made reservations and the table was not set up with enough waters and no silverware was set out. The waitress was really bad no onions on my burger no bbq side for fries. 18% gratuity was added to bill for 8 or more people. She deserved at the most 12% and that is being generous . It was really loud and hard to hear they need to add something to walls to add to help with background noise. will not return. Food was good not spectacular did not care for their fries.

I visited here while on a work trip. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was great and came out quickly. The owner came over to our table and made sure everything we ordered was correct and tasty. Definitely a great experience.

We had my wife’s 40th Birthday here. We drove 2.5 hours to plan the party with Pete the bar manager. We decided on a DJ and taco bar for 30 people… we told him… some of the guests might not come. He quoted us $425 for 30 people.$14 per person. He then said we will charge you less if less people show up. We had 21 guests that showed up.. We found out two days before the party at the DJ canceled. We were also missing beans and rice that we’re supposed to be included in our taco bar. So all we really had was chips and tacos.He also told us as long as we have guests drinking and eating we could stay open till 2 AM in the room we were in. We had staff trying to shut us down before 10 o’clock.. We started getting lots of drunk people coming into the party and helping themselves to our food. And looking at all the gifts on the table. So we finally decided to call it a night. We hardly had any bar service so for drinks we had to walk all the way downstairs to the bar.. At the end of the night, I went down to the bar to pay my tab. And The Bartender gave me a bill for $635… $135 of it was a tip fee. When I told him this is Not the price I was quoted. The Bartender told me you’ll have to take that up with Pete. So I paid $635 worth of tacos and chips for 21 people, before we left the staff and other people from the bar were coming up and eating my food. I reached out to Pete in an email. He told me he would refund me $77 out of all that money. What a crook. So I am currently in dispute with my credit card, trying to get at least $300 of my money back. I’m also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This is not how you treat people. He never did refund me even the $77. He just blew me off. I would never give this place any of my business again. If you deal with this man, I would make sure you get everything in writing.

Busy because it was Thanksgiving. The food was great though. Turkey's Prime rib were juicy and tender and all the fixing, especially the fruut...so good.

The brisket tacos are to die for. A little heat, and the sauces mixed with peppers, onions, and cheese. You must try.

My family and I really enjoyed dining here. This was outrageously 2nd time and it was just as good if not better than the first time. The food was delicious. The customer service was friendly and helpful. The decor and atmosphere was pleasant. I would recommend dining here, you won't be disappointed.

So I was in The Alexandria neighborhood today. Figured i would stop in finally and check out this place called the depot. Seeing as this place has mixed reviews. So lets start with the staff, almost non existent, it took me and my party almost 20 minutes to get service for our beverages. Now onto the food, burnt(Well-Down) steaks when ordered medium rare from the start, the second was the prime rib, i could have made and prepped a better tasting quality meat from home. And at 44 dollars. I recieved a bbq rib meal to start. How are ribs equal to prime rib. Third i have had better road kill meals than this place serves. Then the garlic mashed potatoes. If i wanted to down a stick of butter or a jar of oil i could have stayed on my Cleanse. I was disgusted and appauled at what kind of food was served to me and my party. Truly disappointed in the quality of food and service for such a high priced establishment.

food was decent. service was slow. seemed like the staff was more concerned with the outside worlds drama, and who is sleeping with who. unprofessional and slow staff.

UPDATE: went back in because the depot is an alexandria staple. things were better this time. we had a nice younger gal as our waitress, she was eager to assist us. thank you depot for making this experience better.

We don't eat at restaurants often but we were excited to try the ribs at The Depot. The service was great but sadly, the ribs were reheated and dry. Even with the steak knife, the resisted. Just dry. Topped with sauce. So disappointed.
