A lovely place for one, two, or a small group. The atmosphere is fun, and the food is amazing.

These were our starters. The smoked beets for me, and my wife had the shrimp. Both fantastic!!

I was visiting Alexendria from another state and went to The Garden Bar based on the recommendation from a local. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Service was great, and the food was good relative to other restaurants that I visited in Alexandria.

Beautiful quiet place, moody and upscale. We were seated in the private room which was lovely for laughs and good conversation. Didn't have to wait for a seat on a Saturday there were plenty of tables available and yet there were tables full as well, we came around 7. Food was good, would recommend the salmon. And the Chai white Russian.

We were very excited to try the Ramen and it was decent overall. The noodles and GF noodles were good. The eggs were perfect! The broth was good but lacked depth and was over salted.
The most disappointing part of this first time experience was the service. There were maybe 8-10 people there at lunch. It was not an enjoyable experience. Thankfully one waitress helped get the attention of our waitress to close our bill.
When one of our gift cards was declined the waitress did not explain why, only that there was “no button” to do the transaction. Then proceeded to invite us back for another meal and assure us the owner would be in at 2 to look at the button. We wanted to like this place but for $40 for two bowls of ramen and the service we got we won’t be going back. Oh and they charge a 3% credit card fee even if you don’t use that.

Food took forever for food to come for not even 50 people in the restaurant. It was way too expensive for food that was not good at all.

First time to this very nice restaurant. The laid back atmosphere was very nice, service was fun and informative, food was a hit for all four of us. Kristy Jo took good care of us.

I googled “best place to eat in Alexandria” and Garden Bar on 6th came up as one of the top choices. We went with it and were not disappointed. Kate was our server and was wonderful. She directed us to many options and we landed on burrata, steak and chicken with a cheesecake follow-up. Everything was amazing! We will be back!

I go here about twice a year since the restaurant opened. This is not my first review. Although I like the ambience, especially when they have live music, it’s the food that keeps me coming back. It’s so flavorful and of a much better caliber than what you would usually find in a town of this size. One thing that continues to bother me, however, is the seating. If you are seated in the window area, the sun shines in your eyes. Usually, though, for parties of two or four, you are seated at what is basically one long booth that runs along the east wall, so that one member of your party is seated on the booth/bench while the other person sits across from you in a chair. The issue is that the tables are too close together. This restaurant has a very good date night vibe, but when the people at the next table are so close, you feel like you can’t have a private or even semi-private conversation. In addition, you hear everyone else’s conversation, too. This kind of ruins the point of a date when you have to talk about really general things or simply sit in silence.
Food is definitely stellar, unique & appealing to the eye!

Stopped in for a late lunch. Enjoyed the Korean BBQ shrimp, sunfish and ahi tuna poke bowl. All well prepared and presented. The perfect ending was the Meyer lemon tart. Worth it to return just for the tart!
