Mauer Brothers’ is a great place to stop for a drink and meet with a friend or talk with locals. The people of Elba were welcoming, and the conversations were real. You’ll learn surprising stories about the people and places there if you take the time to listen. The bar is still owned by the descendants of the original owner from 1890, and there I learned the story of the Fire Tower and that of Black Bill of Elba (and saw his legendary trout mounted). Beer prices were fabulous....
This place is great! Good food at very reasonable prices. This place has friendly staff and cold beer. Try their snappy eggs they're amazing. The area is beautiful with many places to camp, fish, hike, and forests. Wildlife is everywhere in that area.
Classic small town bar. Cold beer at reasonable prices. Incredible taxidermy on walls. Great burgers, but be aware that kitchen hours are a bit limited. Locally made butter and cheese available for sale. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting Whitewater State Park.
