You walk in and it feels like a hipster joint, with local art for sale and a wall of burlap South American coffee bags decorating the walls and plants hanging from the ceiling. You step up to the counter to order, and a young woman wearing a black heavy metal band T-shirt smiles and takes your order. You probably get a sandwich or a wrap, chips, and a can of soda or beer or an iced chai. You probably go back for dessert and order a macaroon. And you probably hang around after you're done and secretly plan when you'll come back again.

My spouse and I stopped here after a round of golf at Giant's Ridge. She ordered a breve with a chicken wrap while I got an "Italian" grilled cheese sandwich with a blackberry lemonade. While waiting for our order to be prepared we looked around. A couple of the walls were decorated with old burlap coffee bean bags, which was a unique sight. We took our order to go. We were both very satisfied with our meals and decided we would stop in again the next time through Aurora.
Love this little shop! They have quality drinks, which are always a delight, bit they've also got a number of delicious food items available. The standard pastry edibles, of course, but they've also got a number of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and even some soup.I really like how they reuse gift cards here, so please be sure to only write on the envelope and not the card itself! Reduce, reuse, recycle ?

On Feb 2nd, a friend and I went to the Hive for lunch. We were gabbing so much that I did not pay attention to the soup temp. It was not hot and had sour cream to mix in which made it even worse. Half was through we had them heat it up which did not help. We finished and left. By the time I got home my stomach hurt so bad I made myself vomit to get it out of me. I was getting body rushes and was extremely light headed. My boyfriend came home and took me to ER. I ended up in the hospital overnight. I went back a few days later to let them know and of course no manager was there. I don't know if the girl I told mentioned it to anyone or not. She did not seem concerned. Will not return.

The Hive was a pleasant surprise when I moved back here 3 years ago. Cozy, great sandwiches and pastries plus love the fresh squeezed lemonade. My go to are the Ruben and the roast beef sandwiches. There usually is a lunch special every day and i like the pasties, gumbo, enchiladas, stews, breakfast burrito, among others. You can also special order any of the baked goods.
