I had hopes... There were pictures of the restaurant staff who had been team for 10+ years, some over 20. I good sign that was shown to be an illusion. The restaurant wasn't crowded or empty, seemingly nominal for the time of day. We get seated and wait, then more time before the beverage order was taken. Nothing special, just coffee and soft drinks. More time elapsed and the drinks were delivered 5-10 minutes later and our meals ordered. Time marches by, my empty coffee cup pushed to the edge of the table asking for more goes unanswered. Finally the four meals arrived and my coffee cup was filed. We finished the meals, which were tasty and the empty plates removed and followed by suggestions for dessert. My empty coffee cup goes unnoticed. I was done and skipped desert and asked for the check. I was surprised (should have read the reviews) that an "Optional" 12% was added to the check as a service tip and that any additional provided would go directly to the server. It wasn't the amount that objected to, it was the manner. I would have guilt tipped them more, between the service level delivered and the audacious billing I just paid the bill knowing that I would never eat there again.

The chicken fried steak was fantastic, The mashed potatoes are real with the skin on and the bacon infused gravy on the chicken fried steak was probably some of the best I've had.

Such a fun destination with great food. Massive downstairs gift store and hand made pies. Had the meatloaf dinner that had skin on mashed potatoes, two large slices of meatloaf with a bunch of brown gravy over it. The pie was great. Like the mixed berry more than the French silk. Our server (Avery?) was super fun and friendly. Worth the stop.

Stopped in for breakfast on our way to the cities from Duluth. The food was really very good! Prices are normal for today's market, meaning nothing is cheap, right. Our waitress was excellent! It's nice little restaurant and I recommend you give it try.

We came in and sign said “please wait to be seated” we stood watching 4 staff members looking at us and not helping. A staff member walked by and said I’ll be right with you I have to run to the bathroom. Waited some more while these 4 staff members looked at us. No one else helped us. Stood there for 10 minutes and finally walked out. Food looked good but never got to try it. I should note they were not busy. There was plenty of tables open.
The food was good. The walleye was excellent. The view almost looked like a painting.

We came here for first time heading north and had breakfast. Food was quite good but a bit pricey for regular eggs and bacon. And french toast. Service was good. Friendly server. But whats with 12% extra tipping? We paid our service 20% and cashier removed the 12% per my husband requested. We go out quite a bit and have never seen this before. If servers need higher pay than I believe its up to owner. Not try to get from customers when we are tipping the person who was our server! Also kind of interesting items for sale had no price stickers?? Anyways, a fun place to stop sometimes maybe.
