It would have been nice to try the food but I never had the chance. I went there on a weekday, early dinner time, medium crowd. I waited and waited and waited. I waved several times and got no response. The last guy I waved at with darker hair, mid-20s, actually gave me an-attitude look. I waited around 22-25 minutes, patience ran out and decided to go elsewhere.

Black Bear is my go-to spot anytime I'm back in Baxter. Sitting at the bar truly feels like home. I always get the prime rib on weekends and it's always good. The bartenders are great.

This place is amazing from the outside looks like a cozy cabin but the inside has that great small town country like charm
Plus the Alfredo I got pictured here 10/10 so tasty and huge portions too

Love this place! We got when we are in town. The walleye was fantastic, cooked perfectly. The lobster bisque is the best soup I've ever had. I'd buy it by the gallon. Service was excellent, I bought a hoodie sweatshirt to bring part of the place home with me. Will definitely be back!

We went on Father’s Day, so it was really busy for lunch. They were definitely short staffed. Once we were seated though, it was just fine. Food was delicious. We started with the meatballs. So good. I had lobster bisque. So full of lobster. It was absolutely delicious. Fiancé had the double bacon burger. Waffle fries were delicious and the burger was huge and tasty. He also had the wild rice soup. Full of rice and chicken, nice and thick. We didn’t think it was “legendary”, as advertised, but it was good.

Great service by Patty, our server.
All though the Cubana bun was a little soggy, the flavor was spot on.
Wild rice soup, is always our favorite.

Got there late, I ordered the chicken Parmesan and it was beyond dry and not edible, otherwise waffle fries, and chicken wild rice soup , and cheesecake was good... B.f got the Cuban..

For $90 you'd think they would of made sure the chicken was good to eat ...

I had the walleye sandwich. My son had steak dinner. The Walleye was way over cooked and my son's steak was full of grisel. Nasty. I do not recommend going here.

PRIME RIB SPECIAL! This one did not disappoint ? Flavorful Au Jus, veggies, and a tater of your choice. No wonder the menu says available "until gone". I bet they go fast! Quick and friendly service here as always.

As a visitor to Baxter, we were looking for a good restaurant to make our visit as special as we could. Big disappointment here. We joined the lunch “crowd” on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. Not being a big burger fan, I chose the pasta with house made marinara. I also opted for the meatballs at an extra charge. Big mistake. Everything arrived cold except the meatballs, which apparently had just come out of the microwave. The small handful of pasta was cold to the touch. The house marinara was just a notch over plain tomato sauce as no spices could be detected whatsoever. Thank God I had meatballs to fall back on but too much time in the microwave yielded dry, tough little morsels that were frozen only moments before. The lobster bisque my wife chose had lumps of something in it but she highly doubts if it was lobster. Again, tasteless. Her club sandwich was ok. Upon arriving, I noticed a bartender on duty as well as one waitress. Mr. Bartender had all he could do to manage the bar, let alone wait tables for drink orders. He announced that so-and-so would be our waitress. She was not the waitress working the room. After nearly finishing our beers our waitress finally showed up for an anything-but-friendly approach to taking our orders. “Special” meal out? You must be kidding. It was the worst ever. If we had gone to diner next door, we would at least have received a hot meal and a friendly waitress. Never again.

Horrible food, frozen products, bought-in everything. Bland and terrible. Not worth the time let alone the money. 👎👎👎
