My husband works up in that small town for a little while a couple times a year I was staying with him and we went to that bar and it was the first time I have had in so many years the atmosphere was wonderful the drinks were strong and cheap and all of the people from that town were so inviting and fun and the bartenders and the people all the people that worked there were so amazing and fun I can't wait to go back

Nice enough. Could have been a little cleaner. But folks were nice, drinks were good. Food truck outside did a good job of serving gluten free. First was good too.

I was recently at the Green Door, for the first time in almost five years. Nearly everything about this place has changed for the better! It has great atmosphere, excellent events on the weekend and a first class staff. The selection of off-sale is incredible, given the limited space! Beer, Whiskeys, Bourbons, Rums and Gins are available for perusing comfortably. What they have for variety, regularly beats the selection in stores 3-5 times the size. I tried the Engine Gin, Michters Rye and a bottle of Bumbu Rum and was not disappointed. If you're traveling up and down Hwy 61, be sure to stop in for a drink or a bottle. You won't regret it!

I bought advance tickets for myself and friends. We arrived early and waited a half hour in line. The basket had 4 smelt, a Tbsp of slaw and a tsp of tartar sauce, a tiny bag of chips and orange drink. I was told it was all you can eat when I bought the tickets. When my friends and I went to the head of the line and asked for a couple more smelt, the man attendant grinned and gleefully told me I had to "sweat the line" which was now longer than before. 4 SMELT? I live on the Gunflint and pass through Beaver Bay all the time and from now on I will keep right on going. I made a 200 mile trip for a fun experience and found a 4 smelt ripoff leaving hungry. Never again.

Classic Minnesota bar. Draft beer, some other beers in cans/ bottles, and a basic selection of rail liquor. Lots of wood paneling, pictures of fish, pull tabs behind the bar BUT, this specific classic Minnesota bar has a focus on local beer, so you can actually get a damn good IPA on tap, and you won't find Bud or Coors on draft. Given that our state makes fine drinking liquids, the North shore needs more places like this. Also, they are pretty welcoming to kiddos, which is important when the kids are hungry and literally the only option after 7pm is to seek out bar pizza. It's Giovanni, not Heggie, still solid.

When one of the employees is more concerned with playing an arcade basketball game than taking care of customers. If it was your break time, then say something, but to just ignore someone is very unprofessional and I will not be stopping here again.
