I was looking for a brunch/lunch kind of meal to start the day off yesterday and this was one of only a few options in the area. I liked the look of the food and checked it out. It is a very small place, but nice atmosphere and well kept. I got a wolf burger and onion rings. I thought the food was great and the price/value was very good. It filled up fast and I tried to leave quickly so I wouldn't take up a table when others were coming in. I'd go there again, though it sounds like the place is closed for a while to rework some things. Hopefully they figure out whatever they need and the place can open back up in the future.

Thick, delicious, handmade burger patties that don't even need sauce. (They're just juicy enough, but not greasy.) Great seasoning on shrimp, walleye, and fries. Good selection of craft beer. Friendly chef--if it's not too busy, ask him about the story of the Lemon Wolf. Just make sure you wait at the front to be seated. Otherwise, the staff might not see you right away and you might wait a while.

We would go out of our way to come to this cafe again. Came in as a group of 10 (6 kids) they did not hesitate to accommodate for all of us. The server even cut some grapes for the baby. They gave all the kids treats and offered us free pie because “of the wait of one meal” we didn’t even notice it took longer. We will recommend this cafe to everyone. The owner and server were extremely friendly and talkative (:

My wife and I stopped in for a quick bit for lunch, glad we did. I had probably the best burger I've ever had in my life. While we were there we heard another couple discussing how much they loved the soup the were eating. Come to find out it was a white bean chicken chili. We got some to take back to the cabin for dinner that night. Wow it was crazy good...we'll certainly be back next year during out annual trip up to the north shore.

Small cafe serving up homemade dishes in a cozy unassuming space. Soup and salad were exceptional, fresh and flavorful. The entrees were decent, but my fish was average and so full of bones it was nearly inedible, watched another table toss theirs to the side. Rated highly because there is literally nothing else in the area that was open except the dining room at Cove Point Lodge witch didn’t have an opening. Give it a try if you’re in the area, avoid the herring.

This is a great place to eat and feel at home. Workers and owner are very friendly. We even got the whole story on why the store is named lemon wolf.

This food is very well made!! We got chicken Alfredo and beef enchiladas and salad and it was delicious!! Right when we walked in there was the owner telling a story and that was cool. My husband and I had a very long day and we loved coming to a cozy, very relaxed, and fun environment place to eat. Very satisfied!

Small, quiet cafe with freshly prepared food. We had the salad and the buffalo chicken sandwich for lunch and were impressed with the quality ingredients. There were only two tables open when we stopped in at 1:15pm and it quickly filled up with other people waiting before they closed at 2pm. Warm and cozy little gem of a place!

You look at the website and you expect something with intention and upliftedness—a picture of a young chef with white subway tiles in the background and a crisp bistro storefront, and from the moment we walked through the door, The Lemon Wolf is the farthest thing from cohesive, intentional, or crisp. Greeted by a do-rag clad cook/owner (“chef”) reclined while watching a blaring football game on a gargantuan tv behind a cluttered check out counter, I should have turned and walked out then and there. The place resembled something akin to the living quarters of a great aunt known for her mental struggles and anti social behavior: clutter greeted you on surface and floor, a curio cabinet full of stuff, there was a half wall full of children’s drawings that long should have been recycled, and while the place suggests a wolf theme, it was full of kitschy black bear motif. In fact the wolf suggested by the name, though misleading with the softer and more culinary appealing word “lemon”, resembled more of a college mascot ready to rumble in a rugby game. When seated we discovered there was no liquor license. Another moment we should have looked the waitress in the eyes and said no thanks. Instead I proceeded to the menu which, as informed by our newly hired waitress, did not include the dinner salad because they ran out from “selling so many salads”. My husband and I ordered some of the cheapest things on the menu, already hesitant to spend our money there. Again the meal resembled that which a great aunt would serve and went well with her anti social inducing blaring football game: a grilled chicken cutlet (vs a whole chic breast), steamed veg seasoned with too much garlic salt, oily Texas toast (boasted as bread baked fresh daily), and plain mashed potatoes. My husband’s walleye meal was steamed and over seasoned with paprika(!), came without lemon or sauce, and his wild rice was likely rice-a-roni out of a box. None of this would be an issue if it weren’t presented online so disingenuously. If Lemon Wolf website described themselves as a dry townie restaurant meant to serve the folks of Lake county, well then we’d know what we were in for. The way it was we spent a total of 20 minutes at the Lemon Wolf—we ate and ran—and even that was too long.

The food is amazing and you get more then enough. Hubby and i both had burgers and we both took some back to camper. The employees/owner were beyond kind. They made us feel welcome just like we were one of the locals. We will be going back.

Amazing breakfast Sammy. Best French toast! Asked for crispy bacon and he nailed it! Even offered to fill our water bottles.

This place was so good! I loved my breakfast sammich!!! The owner was so kind and made our breakfast experience very welcoming! I was wondering if you needed a son? 10/10 one of the best people I have ever met. Also I got a free sticker so that’s cool! Next time I am in the area I am for sure coming back!

The food and service were awesome! I'm gluten-free and the chef did an excellent job of keeping me safe. Our party of 10 were all very pleased with the excellent food and the service.

Went here for lunch one day and breakfast the next. There is a limited menu right now. The fish sandwiches were a single filet, so it did have a couple of tiny bones. The side of wild rice soup was delicious. The breakfast sandwich was on some hefty toast with a big piece of sausage. They close for a couple of hours between lunch and dinner, so plan accordingly. It was cash only when we came, but our groupins worked.
