Had heard good things about this place. But not a fan of a meal out consisting of just piling on ingredient after ingredient into a plastic bowl and covering it with a salty white cheese sauce. But the place was busy so I think it's just not our cup of tea.

Tried the chicken (queso) burrito with peco degalo,green sauce,fried rice, corn,beans,refried & a few dashes of green bottle smoked tobasco. I must say was pleasantly surprised how much more authentic it was compared to chipotle. Make sure you come hungry and order chips to use as a fork. You'll be happy you did. I will most definitely be eating here again in the future.

Amazing place! Want a real burrito and not that one chain restaurant, this is your place! You order just like you would there. Fresh food, cooked great, and big portions. Really delicious and great hot sauce and guacamole especially. Cool selections of pop as well.

Stopped here while biking the Paul Bunyan. Food was delicious, totally agree with others on freshness, quality, and portions. Would come here over Chipotle for sure. They let us bring our bikes inside as there was nowhere outside. Great place to stop, very friendly staff!

Burritos California is definitely one of them hole in the wall joints you'd end up passing right up if you blinked while passing thru Brainerd. Not really much signage outside except for a couple pictures covering the window, but if you happen to stop, you'll be leaving with a swamped out belly for sure! The place is setup like a chipotle/Qdoba with the options laid out in front of you, but it's definitely more authentic then any middle of the mall style Chipotle or Qdoba joint. I opted for the shredded chicken this go round, the chicken was tender and had good flavor being mixed with peppers. The Spanish rice was decent. I will say I opted for the hottest sauce they had in the jernt and it didn't have much kick to this gringo..... They could definitely step up the hot sauce. But all in all a damn decent burrito for just over $11 out the door. I'll stop in Burrito California to crave my burrito addiction every time I pass thru Brainerd.
