The staff was friendly but I would not reccommend the food here. The ribeye was tough and I could barely cut through it. My husband and I were convinced the mashed potatoes were fake.

Beautiful ambience, great staff. The food is disappointing. I expect much more of a chef at a fine dining establishment such as this. Outdated, unexciting, uninspired. I hope they change! I’ve been many times over the summer. I won’t go back. They can do better.

We have been to The Classic for years. We went in July and it was excellent. We went again tonight with friends and it was the worst meal we have ever had there. Husband had a $60 filet mignon that was tough and he couldn’t eat. Friend asked for steak medium that was well done. Mine was medium and tough to cut and chew. Friends husband had the same and said it was tough. So disappointed.

The chef's special, risotto with filet mignon was excellent. So was the seafood cioppino with lots of shrimp, scallops, mussels, and red fish

Absolutely best restaurant I’ve been to in Minnesota. I wish they had the classic grill in the cities, but it’s always a special treat coming to our lake home and getting the experience of eating here. The food is phenomenal, the staff is amazing and the atmosphere is unmatched. Every time I visit, I can count on trying one of the new menu items and being in awe of the flavors and presentation. The favorite orders of our group were the Indonesian chicken satay appetizer, the chef’s risotto, and the truffle citrus scallops. My attached picture won’t do it justice, but the presentation of the meals is so unique. If they had Michelin star restaurants in Minnesota, this would for sure be the running. Maddens resort is truly the best location in the brainerd area.

Long time seasonal customers, enjoyed our lunch as always - up to a point. It was a slow day, we were the only customers in the dining room, and our server was not attentive at all. When we asked for coffee at the end of our meal, what they served was instant coffee. We’ll return this summer and trust you will ensure this was only an anomaly and that your usual brewed coffee will be served.

We had an anniversary dinner there recently. Wonderful food, reasonable prices for a high class place. Great view overlooking the golf course and fabulous waitstaff. They also have MANY gluten free options on the main menu and both the staff and the chef understand GF issues and are there to help.
