We do takeout every 2 weeks when we visit the Twin Cities

We came here for dinner because we were in the neighborhood and didn’t wanted to drive through traffic to our regular buffet in Fridley. From the get go they want you to pre-pay, that’s is such a turn off, I guess they think patrons will eat without paying for the meal. They still have plastic wrap around their cashier, pandemic relic and another turn off. The furniture is old, booth seats were cracked. We are a party of 3 and with us, there only 10 patrons at dinner time. Slow Chinese music is playing. They allowed us to seat where we wanted and brought us beverages. The food is buffet style. The meat is touch to chew, over fried and dry, broccoli and rice are greasy. Not a place to return to again. They charged us $47.19 and since we had to prepay, I didn’t leave a tip. Kids said “may we never eat here again?” On the positive, the waitress was friendly.

The worst buffet I've ever been to in my life. The food is very bad, they have no variety and most of the things you see in the photo are missing. I advise you not to go so you don't want to end up like me and something else. It's very expensive.

Food was overcooked, dry and cold. And I do mean cold, not even slightly warm. 15 minutes before closing someone asked us if we planned on having dessert, we said yes. Shortly after we saw someone removing all the desserts and closing down. Wouldn’t that be the last thing to remove? They need to change their closing time to 8:00 so if someone comes in 45 minutes before closing they get to have dessert.

This is my favorite American Chinese restaurant anywhere! They have a huge buffet and Mongolian bbq with a better selection than any Mongolian bbq or Chinese buffet i have been to. It is definitely worth the drive. their lunch price is unbelievably cheap, something like $7 a person! I have never left this place without feeling like i'm gonna explode. the mayonnaise/walnut shrimp is the best. I will admit that the quantity is better than the quality for some dishes (don't care for their interpretation of general's/sesame chicken or cream cheese wantons) but the Mongolian bbq is great and they have lots of fruit, California rolls, mussels, chili shrimp. Ignore all these haters and give it a try.

My family and I don't go to this buffet often, but we decided to since it was within the area and close to home. Our first few maybe 2-3 times were okay, but it's something about the atmosphere of the buffet that throws it off for me - I feel unclean eating and sitting there, but I try to brush it off.

Over the weekend (Sunday 05/18/2025), my brother and I decided to stop there for lunch with my mom. We went in and did our usual pay before eating, had our drinks ordered, then my mom and I went to the bathroom to wash our hands before eating. Upon walking into the women's bathroom, I noticed that someone in one of the stalls had their Asian show on full blast. I brushed it off, because it didn't concern me; however, what happened next grossed myself and my mom out.

The person had came out of the stall to wash their hands. My mom and I both noticed that the person in the stall handles the cooked food and refills anything that may need refilling, hence the pair of blue gloves that they had on. My mom and I both thought that they were going to take off their pair of blue gloves and dispose it before washing their hands, but they didn't - instead, they proceeded to wash their hands WITH the pair of blue gloves on. I was like, okay, maybe they'll change out their gloves into a new pair, but they didn't.

The whole time I was eating there, I could not help but feel sick to my stomach and had a loss of appetite. It makes me question the cleanliness of the entire buffet itself - from the food being cooked, to how they clean and wash their dishes, tables, etc. After witnessing what my mom and I had seen, we will NOT be returning to New King Buffet.

Took my family for an early mother day celebration and was there around 7pm. They close at 9:30pm and will not refill their foods. All the foods were leftovers that are cold and once the food ran out they will not make anymore. There are still ppl coming in to dine, two hours before they close, and they still didn’t refill their foods. Not a lot of food options and they are salty too. Have to leave and head to a restaurant since there wasn’t enough food. First time there but will not be going back.

Should've drove the extra 10 minutes to go to a better buffet. Everything was dried and old. Expensive too.
