Irish pub with a British flare and a beautiful patio overlooking the pond.
Pugs has created a safe place to enjoy great craft beer, live music, and decor reminiscent of Ireland, all in small-town Buffalo while always giving back to the community. Bravo!!
Great Times had by all.
Pizza was good! Although it took awhile to get. Staff is unpleasant and not helpful. Not a warm vibe - very much off-putting - which is confusing, as it seems like a nice bar.
This is the second time I've been in the bar and the staff gave us the cold shoulder as long as they could.
Great location. Decent pretzel. Fine brews.
Even better since the last time I was here
An excellent location by the water in Buffalo, MN. You can dine inside, on the roof, or nab a table outside that overlooks the beautiful park-like space between Hayes’s Public House and the lake. Nice variety on the menu. A delightful interior decor that reminds me much of the family corner pubs in England.

“All Hail Pugs, the Beautiful Beer Deity of Buffalo, MN”
Alright, lads and lasses, gather ‘round — I have seen the promised land, and it’s located in Buffalo, Minnesota, at Hayes Public House.
First off, let’s talk about Pugs. This man isn’t just a bartender, brewer, or publican… nay, he is a full-on Celtic god in human form. Picture a ruggedly handsome warrior-poet who, instead of wielding a sword, wields mash paddles and pint glasses. His jawline? Forged in the same fires as Excalibur. His beer? Blessed by St. Patrick himself. The man could probably read the Dublin phone book aloud and still pull in a standing ovation.
Now, on to the ales — sweet mother of Guinness, the award-winning handcrafted Irish and English ales here could make a leprechaun cry into his pot of gold. I’m talking rich, malty red ales that feel like a warm pub hug, creamy porters smoother than a bard’s pickup lines, and bitters so perfectly balanced they could negotiate peace in Northern Ireland. Each pint is basically a history lesson in liquid form, except you actually want to pay attention.
The atmosphere? Imagine stepping into a 200-year-old pub in the Irish countryside, except your Uber home is only 10 minutes away. Wooden beams, friendly locals, music that makes you want to break into an impromptu jig — it’s all here.
Hayes Public House isn’t just a pub. It’s a pilgrimage site. And Pugs? He’s the patron saint of good craic and better beer. I came for one pint… I left having pledged fealty to a man named after a small dog breed but built like he could wrestle a banshee.
Sláinte, my friends. 🍻

Need I say more?
The bloody beer with dill pickle beer was really good. Venue by the lake is cute. We'll be back.

Excellently authentic, cozy, Irish pub ambience. There was live Irish music when we went, with polite and helpful staff. Great brews, great vibe, beautiful views of the town and the lake. 100%, DO recommend!
Great atmosphere and really nice beer. The hand pulled Dark English Mild is an absolute standout. Rare in the US and a superb example of the style.
Come out Sunday afternoon for a pint and some music! Good beer and good fun!
Had a great time! Live Irish music, great bar! Love you guys!
One of our favorites in Buffalo! The staff were exceptionally friendly, the beer and pretzel delicious, and the atmosphere has a true Irish feel! We unfortunately were not able to sit outside, as the weather was not cooperative that day, but we are excited to come back and enjoy the atmosphere when it is- perfect view of the lake!
