“This new spot is exactly what I’ve been looking for a mix menu of all my favorite foods. I have been there multiple times already and each time the food is just right. As of now my favorite meal is the mix kebab plate or the teriyaki chicken. They also have some shocking hours which I find interesting because they are the only spot I know of that stay open till 1am on weekends and this is amazing because I usually finish my work at 12am so it’s the perfect spot to go to for a late night eat. I highly recommended this place the people are friendly and have a really nice vibey atmosphere. 10/10“

“What a delightful evening this was! It was truly a dining adventure with the variety of dishes and flavors in such an enjoyable homey atmosphere. Mo was a gracious host and at once we felt at home in his home. There was time to socialize and meet the other diners but also time to enjoy your own privacy with the people you came with to dine. I have been smiling all weekend thinking about this wonderful experience; I will definitely be back and can’t wait to share this gem with others. 💜“

“I was staying in the University of Minnesota and this place was a life saver when I did not want to eat in the dining hall. Their falafel sandwich was genuinely some of the best falafel I have ever had and their fries were undoubtedly the best fries I have ever had. The service was super quick and we got our food in under 10 minutes consistently. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere to it. Would strongly recommend if you are in the area!“

“Today was my first time having Naf Naf. I accidentally ordered to the location a few blocks away, yet the man working at this location called them and was able to make it here for me. I appreciate him going above and beyond to help! I really didn’t expect that, I feel so grateful. The food was fantastic- so fresh and full of flavor. The pita bread was sooo soft, chicken was juicy, and the sauces were perfectly balanced in flavors! I’ll be back! 😍“

“Hamdi is a traditional Somalian and East African Restaurant. The place is truly unique, casual and very rustic inside. They have plenty of places to sit and also offer a large private family section according to their traditions and culture. The server was very friendly. There are no paper menu’s. The menu is on a big monitor in the front of the restaurant showing labeled pictures of the food items so you know what it looks like. They don’t have many items but what they do have is made really well! We started with hummus and the star was the bread. It tasted like fresh stone ground wheat but was super light and fluffy. Next, The beef samosas are filled with ground beef, onion and herbs. They reminded me of Lebanese meat pies. Served hot and I surely could have eaten 6 all by myself. Very addictive! Finally, the main entree was chicken steak. The plate looked beautiful, chicken breast sliced thin was tender and lightly seasoned. Be sure to order the rice with dinner vs bread. The rice was aromatic, moist and chock full of flavor! It had an onion and cinnamon nuance but it wasn’t overpowering. The chicken legs entree were fried with rice. The entrees came with salad and a side sauce but it was very hot on the scovil scale. Honestly, the food didn’t need the hot sauce. The entrees were very generously portioned. They don’t offer dessert but after all that good food, we didn’t need it. Happy ending was the hot tea (kava). It was lightly sweetened and had a vague clove, cinnamony and nutmeg taste. But very different than heavy masala tea’s you find in Asia. It’s a plain clear tea with no milk. Very good to help digest all that food.“

“Reliably good bowls! Great place to meet up with others to work down town.
The Moroccan sauce, spicy hummus and spicy sauce had a strong flavor. May have cried a bit.
Went around noon and had a line of about 5 minutes.“

“East Village is hands down the best Somali restaurant around!
Their sambusa is absolutely delicious — crispy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The chicken salad is next level: clean, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The quality of the food here is unmatched, and the service is always friendly and fast. If you’re looking for top-notch Somali cuisine, East Village is the place to go!“

“We had some food catered for my Grandfather’s funeral, and it was extremely delicious! There was a grilled vegetable salad that was so flavorful, falafel and rice, some amazing hummus, garlic and tahini sauces, and different varieties of kabobs. Oh and I can’t forget to mention the pita bread! It was literally one of the best pitas I’ve ever had. And trust me I’ve tried a lot ;) Many of my family members agreed. We had some people with special diets (allergies, vegan, and gluten free) and they were all able to be accommodated.
Thank you for making a difficult day a little easier to get through.“
“The best East African restaurant in the Twin Cities hands down! I go to Kalsan at least once a month to get the Chicken Suqaar with rice, it's one of my favorite dishes in the city. They recently remodeled the interior too so I tend to sit down instead of ordering take-out now. Great place!“
