Sometimes a breakfast lands like a warm hug. Sometimes it lands like a culinary ambush.
I ordered the chicken-fried steak. I got two breaded patties drowned in gravy which is the diner equivalent of being catfished. I went in expecting a real steak hammered flat by an angry cook, exercising his anger management on some departed bovine, and fried in cast iron… and instead I got cafeteria-grade mystery pucks in beige sauce.
This breakfast was squarely in the second category — a plate engineered by committee, assembled from components that technically qualify as food, and delivered with the confidence of a kitchen that believes gravy covers all sins.

This was our inaugural visit to Breakfast Square, as several acquaintances had highly recommended their breakfast offerings. We were thoroughly impressed. Our breakfast orders were expertly prepared, the server was attentive and efficient, and the prices were very reasonable. Notably, the prices were comparable to those of Denny's, and their pancakes were exceptional.
